2020 MLB Draft Thread
Joe Boyle is a reliever from ND, he does have experience starting but he projects to be a reliever in the bigs. He was very loud stuff and I wouldn’t be mad if the Sox nabbed him in the first few rounds.

Austin Martin may be out 6 weeks with his hamstring injury, that could cause him to fall out of the top ten

I’m all for lineup optimization but their best OBP guy is Grandal and I want him sandwiched in between the middle of the lineup. And Moncada said that he hates batting leadoff, so why is he there?

Who cares, he’s probably never going to walk a ton but he can still work as a leadoff hitter as long as his pitch selection keeps improving. He’s also the best base stealing threat on the team. I’d rather have Moncada driving in Anderson than vice versa.

Why is Moncada leading off?

A friend of the MLB Draft subreddit, who we’re doing an AMA with later this year said that Garrett Mitchell is the fav to go 1-1.

White Sox Spring Training Thread
Yeah, he’s both those things but if he were taller he’d probably be labeled a better athlete and would give off the perception to some people that he could maybe play another position. He’d might be ranked higher. Short, stocky white guys aren’t really looked at as being good, physical athletes.

If Andrew Vaughn were at least two inches taller, he’d be held in a higher regard.

Anderson Moncada Abreu EE Grandal Eloy Mazara Robert Madrigal

I’d rather keep McCann since he’s a better defensive option than Mercedes and Collins.

2020 MLB Draft Thread
What are the Sox biggest needs in terms of the system as a whole? Athletes, up the middle talent, lefties and starting pitching depth? Some influx of youth won’t be a bad idea either. Im really like Detmers, Soderstrom and Howard but I’d prefer it if the Sox add a high impact prep bat in the first round. Howard naturally plays a premium position, while Soderstom has the better bat but might have to be moved from behind the plate.

Aaron Bummer extended 5 years/16M (plus two options)
There’s literally zero downside to this extension. Not counting the option years his AAV is $3.2M. That’s a drop in the pan

OBP skills and where a player bats in the order have nothing to do with each other. I like Grandal batting fourth or fifth so he can break up Abreu, EE and Eloy. Anderson Moncada Abreu Grandal/EE EE/Grandal Eloy Mazara Madrigal Robert (I still think he’s ideally the Sox’s own George Springer batting leadoff)

Michael Kopech
I wouldn’t be mad if the Sox kept Kopech down till May to get back the year of control that they lost due to his TJ.

Ed Howard and Tyler Soderstrom. If the Sox draft Soderstrom, I hope they would move him from behind the plate because the bat looks great.

TA is the best
Why won’t the Sox name him captain?

Sox Have Deal for Norge Vera - 2020 Class
This is huge. The farm is barren (I don’t count Robert, Kopech and Collins as prospects). The Sox really need to add an influx of young talent into the system. This a good start to the draft and J2.

Sox Have Deal for Norge Vera - 2020 Class
Definitely a top ten prospect.

Sox Have Deal for Norge Vera - 2020 Class
Very good move and at a really, good price. Lack of pitching depth was an organizational concern going into last year’s draft, drafting Dalquist and Thompson helped infuse some young and projectable talent into the system. Veras follows suit.
