Seeing the progress of Moncada, Anderson and James McCann to a degree, I have no problem with Severson as I want to see him work with Eloy, Madrigal and Robert but what is his overall hitting philosophy? Because it would be nice to see the team take more walks but maybe that comes down to the guys on the roster.

I’m very intrigued by him. I’m not expecting much from him this year in terms of his stat line. Coming from Mississippi, he probably has never faced talent like this before and he’s very raw. I’m curious to see what instructs does for him.

The Sox rebuild didn’t start till the winter of 2016. So those previous years don’t really count but I get your point

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

What can the Cubs offer the Sox? They have a barren system. -
7/13 GT - Sox @ OAK - 3:07 PM CST

I know Anderson is out but Rick’s inability or unwillingness to optimize his lineup is indefensible. Why is Reed batting ahead of Eloy? Why is Collins, someone with absolutely zero speed, batting ninth? -
See you mid April 2020.

I think the walks will go up once as he continues to entrench himself in this new approach.
-
Am I alone in thinking that Robert has the highest ceiling in the system? He’s plays up the middle in CF, he’s super toolsy with all five of his tools above average at the very least and looks to be an offensive force. I think he’s up in September.

McCann is a big win for the Sox pro scouting and development staff. When’s the last time they had a win like this?

Anyone else think he goes to the AFL?

I need Will Smith on this team next season https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-best-reliever-on-the-trade-market/

Why send him with Moncada coming up? -

I think the best time to trade a reliever is during the season while teams are in the hunt for playoff spots. That’s when you can put a premium on your relievers. -
With the injuries and black holes in the rotation, I’d say they’re not falling out the top ten. Fangraphs is projecting to finish with the eighth overall pick as of tonight.

I just bought the book. Should be here tomorrow, very excited!

Let’s get this dude, move Cooper into an advisory role/roving instructor and hire Brian Bannister to be the pitching guy in the organization. He’s very analytical inclined and has been working for the Red Sox for the past few years http://www.nbcsports.com/boston/red-sox/why-hasnt-rising-star-brian-bannister-left-red-sox%3famp https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/06/07/boston-red-sox-brian-bannister-mvp-machine

I still want as many of those bullets spent in the majors as possible.
-
I disagree. Arms and elbows have a certain number of bullets in them before they’re done for good. I want as many as those bullets spent in the majors as possible. A good example of this is Zack Burdi. A lot of people said that he could pitch in the majors right after being drafted as a reliever. Maybe the Sox were wrong not to rush his development. He’s not a starter who needed a third pitch or something.
-
I think you have to throw service time concerns out the window when it comes to pitchers. They’re so fragile. I think you have to almost treat like NFL teams treat running backs. Get what you can out of their arms and move on.

I need Will Smith on this team next year regardless of what happens with Colomé.

How I feel watching that game deep in Cubs territory. Poetic Justice

Collins coming up is another “win” for the scouting and player development staff but I think that the Sox were wrong to keep him at C. I felt they should’ve moved him to 1B as soon as they drafted him so that he could purely focus on his bat and swing, which was why he was a top ten pick. The reviews have never been glowing about him behind the plate and now we’re talking about someone who can be a fill in catcher instead of an everyday one or even a backup. It’s not crazy to think that he would’ve been up last year if they just let him focus on the bat.

The 2020 Rotation - What’s Your Plan?

I’d also like the Sox to use Kopech similar to how Seattle uses Kikuchi in order to limit his innings. They use him as an opener every fifth start, not letting him pitch more than an inning. I’d like to see the Sox do that with Kopech or they could just skip him every fourth or fifth start to start the season
