  1. Whatever the threshold is, that number does nothing to ensure that low payroll teams spend more than the bare minimum. The top end cap means more overall spending from the big market teams but means little to the teams that don't spend, and does nothing to make them spend. But some owners both don't want to spend at all and want to keep other teams from spending too. That's my rough understanding. A cap w/o a floor does nothing to balance spending across the league or aid parity.
  2. I’m not out right opposed, but I fear a gimmicky set up that deviates too far from the format we’ve had.
  3. June 1st or later. I’m not optimistic ownership budges on core issues any time soon.
  4. Yeah, there are so many ways to attend games affordably if you are willing to put forth a little effort. And your dollars go to neighborhood establishments and small businesses instead of those evil greedy players or magnanimous billionaires.
  5. What evidence do you have to support the idea that April ball isn't important to the players? If it weren't, why would MLB be using the threat of a delayed season via a lockout to pressure MLBPA into capitulating to a worse deal than the last CBA?
  6. The money is in game checks. Owners don't care, but the players do.
  7. The MLBPA just said that they won't sign off on expanded playoffs if they don't play 162, so I would venture that the players care.
  8. I will always love baseball, but with every passing year the MLB ownership collective gets worse and worse for the game. I can only hope that more Manfred ball 'innovations' don't completely ruin my enjoyment of MLB.
  9. I figured they'd get at least an hour in or there abouts. Not 15 freaking minutes.
  10. 15 damned minutes. I shouldn't be surprised, but somehow I am.
  11. I’ll be surprised if it lasts an hour.
  12. Silver lining to having guys out is how these guys have all been developing and making big contributions. You feel good about any one of those three being in a closing lineup or playing crunch time minutes.
  13. Hahaha suddenly that rings a bell. I so don't pay attention to celebrity culture.?
