Tonight marked the 24th time the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost the game. I'm guessing when all is said and done it will be up to 30 times by seasons end.

When you have "baseball-stupid" players plus an organization that apparently doesn't know how to teach fundamentals nor hold people accountable when they continually mess up, this is what you get.

I don't know what the tax laws are in this case, sorry. To his credit JR has always been very good about donating to good causes, Billy Pierce told me about all the money he donated to help Chicago Cancer Charities for example. It's unfortunate that he doesn't seem to care as much about the product he puts on the field.

After a year that has seen the White Sox release seven-figure international signings Yoelqui Céspedes, Norge Vera and most recently Erick Hernández, whose time in the organization ended before making it to a full-season affiliate, the front office aims to bring significant changes to the international scouting operation. That would ideally include upgrading and/or even moving their Dominican Academy.

August 10, 2009 - In an aggressive move the White Sox claimed two-time All-Star Alex Ríos off of waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. Rios was hitting .264 at the time, with 14 home runs, 62 RBIs but was also due $58.6 million through 2015. Rios’ tenure with the White Sox was a mixed bag, playing poorly after being claimed in 2009, and in the ballyhooed 2011 “All-In” season but flashing the talent that got him claimed by G.M. Ken Williams in the first place in 2010 (3.3 WAR) and 2012 (4.8 WAR). Rios was off to a so-so start in 2013 before the White Sox dealt him to Texas for Leury García. The deal off-loaded more than $20 million the White Sox were on the hook for, but overall, doling Rios out $37.2 million to produce 7.0 WAR in his career on the South Side was a significant overpay.

This is true and he was told this if he wanted the job.

You actually can do it, I have myself... but you have to be very careful how you go about doing so and you better be prepared for blowback... again I know that from personal experience: ML: Another balancing act and I personally know how difficult this can be, is understanding the needs of the team during a broadcast, the folks who are signing your paycheck and the responsibility a broadcaster has to the audience as far as giving an honest account of what is going on, on the field or with the team. Again how do you strike the balance or walk that fine line between the two? JB: “I learned economics in school and I look at things as a zero / sum game a lot of times. With baseball I can’t spend more time criticizing players and belaboring points then I do giving credit or looking at thing positively. I’d much rather give credit but if a guy blows one I’ll be the first to say, “that’s an E-6…he should have had that one.” Then we’ll show the video of the player looking at his glove or expressing a reaction. We’ll have the video of it; I don’t need to say anything more. I’ll also go to players, talk with them and ask questions, “why are you in a slump?” Then I’ll take that information he gave me, say it during the broadcast and the viewers can make up their own minds.”

The first part of your statement appears to be very true. The second part isn't happening, neither is bringing in an expansion team or JR selling.

Without good scouting and a development staff you can't do it on the cheap as the Sox are finding out.

A few after game notes from James f**an at Sox Machine. Chris Flexen has now gone 17 straight starts without a win, a franchise record. And he wrote that on the play where Bellinger scored and Baldwin never even looked at home plate, "Cameras caught Cubs players laughing at replays of the gaffe on their tablets in the dugout." The Sox have officially become a laughingstock I guess.

A.J. reiterated his comments about Getz to the Tribune Saturday before the game. Those comments he made initially got him fired as a club ambassador. (I wonder if he'll be invited to Sox Fest next winter...if they go through with having it): “You get a free shot to talk to 29 other teams’ best guys,” Pierzynski said Saturday. “Why would you not use that, even if (Getz is) the right choice? Hell, you might learn something about why this team does this or that. It might help you when you get hired.”

It's called more revenue sources both domestically and internationally for MLB than ever before in history. Shared mega-millions in TV revenue, a sweetheart lease agreement with the state, a low payroll during the first "rebuild" seasons and the fact that JR still gets money from the parking lots which he owns (they'll still draw about 1.5 million). I don't know if this is a 'bad economy' or not, most figures say it is not and JR certainly knows how to manipulate the system including taxes.

That's what this looks like but who knows for sure. There seems to be a disconnect between the team saying 'he can play' and Moncada saying 'no I can't' If he doesn't play this year that could hurt his chances to get a decent deal next year with another club and it wouldn't surprise me if the Sox put out info discreetly of course, that there may be some 'issues' with him.

From the Sun-Times tonight: Third baseman Yoan Moncada hasn’t played since April 9 after suffering a strained left adductor while running out a grounder against the Guardians. Moncada, who has played in only 11 games, has been medically cleared to play, but a return to the majors isn’t imminent. His rehab was interrupted in late July because of soreness, and he hasn’t made any gains that would enable him to return to the team. ‘‘He’s been running,’’ Sizemore said. ‘‘He’s still kind of feeling something there. I can’t tell you that we’re going to get him back or we’re not. I just don’t know. ‘‘With him, we’re checking in daily, hoping for the best and waiting for him to tell us when he’s feeling confident that he’s not favoring it or worried about anything else.’’ The Sox have a $25 million club option for next season on Moncada, who has been beset by injuries through much of his career.

He deliberately does that around reporters to avoid eye contact. No I'm not kidding. He doesn't want to open up any opportunities to have to engage with them.
