The Yankees last won a World Series in 2009. Just saying. Seems to me the quality of the sport hasn't been impacted as much as you think again given the different number of World Series winners and the lack of repeat champions. And I have no issue with a business making a profit, they take the risks, they deserve something...but when profit turns to greed, especially in sports, that's where I draw the line. The Braves, Cardinals, Brewers, Rays and Guardians aren't large market franchises yet they make the post season on a regular basis or at least have a winning record pretty consistently. They seem to do fine without a salary cap or salary floor. The White Sox have more built in advantages than those franchise do by far, they don't succeed, not because there isn't a salary cap/floor but because the organization itself is incompetent, dysfunctional and inept. A cap/floor won't change that in my opinion.

Just curious...how many different teams have won the World series say in the past 20 years? How many different teams have made the playoffs in that time frame? (Even the Sox were able to do it...) Baseball isn't as broken as many think. What's broken is ownership that decides profit is more important than winning.

Funny all those years when Tampa Bay was a joke I never saw or read anything about how that was unfair the Yankees and Red Sox were taking advantage of that situation to pad their win totals and make the playoffs every year.

True but as long as current ownership remains really what is there to discuss? How the Bears keep shooting themselves in the foot every week through incompetence? There's really nothing more to say when you get right down to it.

They make money because the national AND international revenue streams are more than ever before and are shared equally. National broadcast money is shared equally and it is a lot... the local advertising deals to go along with the local radio/TV deals still produce money despite how bad the team is, that money has already been paid to the Sox, it is already drawing interest in the bank. Now add in concessions, parking and merchandise... it all ads up. Then remember that during the "rebuild" between 2017-2019 the Sox either had the lowest team payroll in baseball or near the bottom. That "savings" added up and reduced losses because of COVID. Just a few years ago MLB sold one of their properties to BAT Technology. Each team got a 50 million dollar check. JR has a sweetheart lease agreement on his stadium which also impacts the bottom line. JR can claim he's losing money but the circumstantial evidence doesn't support it and of course until JR opens his books to an independent auditor we will never know with 100% accuracy. But color me VERY skeptical he's losing a dime.

Because even if he wanted to (and he doesn't) Manfred doesn't have that kind of unlimited power/authority. If he tried it the other owners would fire his ass in a New York minute. To say nothing of JR having him in court slapped with an injunction. Manfred could give a s%*# how bad the Sox are, they are making money and that's all he and the league care about.

That is EXACTLY what the Sox situation is. The sooner you accept this the easier it will be to laugh at the ineptitude.

I can only speak for myself but I recall reading them as soon as Moncada had to go on the IL which was shortly after the season began. His back injury was aggravated by the half way around the world flights he was on for Cuba.

True and JR is still the owner, the ultimate wild card.

I remember with Moncada there were published reports he hurt his back playing for Cuba in the WBC shortly before the regular season started, if memory serves that was in 2022. It was reported by a number of outlets again if I remember right.
