Did our World Series odds adjust as a result of this move?

I doubt anyone will claim Wilson, so he'll be in AAA if/until they feel they need him.

MLBTR suggests that his $950k paycheck this year might help him pass through waivers unclaimed. I guess Wilson was always going to be a question mark with last year's back issues. If he clears, he's still got 3 options.

I wonder if there's something wrong with Wilson's arm. Cutting bait now is just weird.

I know he had back issues last year. If the Sox cut him while he has a legit injury that could be grounds for a case before an arbiter.

I think he has a few more years on his deal so I agree this is a little strange. Not saying he's any good, he probably isn't but given their situation what do the Sox have to lose by keeping him, hope he rebounds and they can get something for him.

God that Cease trade was pathetic

I thought he was going to be flipped for another prospect!!!

This is great news to go along with the shady health status reports on Thorpe.

All we will need is another sub-.650 OPS from Zavala next season to conclude on this s%*#-show trade.

Getz blows.

If no team claims Wilson for under a million and the Sox retain him, that just means he’s likely toast anyways.

You previously said that you thought that the Cease trade was just one prospect light.  Well, now you would have to admit that it is at least two prospects short — the one you mentioned and the one everyone was expecting to obtain when Getz eventually flipped Wilson.

It’s becoming more and more clear that Getz and the team he assembled can’t actually scout and identify talent outside of some pitchers.  All of the position players they acquire fail miserably.  Getz and his team are good at one thing, the obvious, just like Hahn.  Taking back highly rated prospects in trades of stud players that Jerry doesn’t want to pay.  Big fucking deal — even a fan could trade a stud player for top prospects simply by looking at a team’s top 25 prospect listings.
