I don't know about this. I actually wrote a blog post last week about this very idea. I think the White Sox have the upper hand because they, unlike the Phillies, are not expected to compete this year, so they are able to just wait and wait and wait because their 2019 roster isn't the priority

A great way to tell when the guys are just looking for attention is when they claim that a signing will be announced 4 days from now. If one of these guys actually wanted to sound believable, they wouldn't try and act like the sides have reached an agreement and are deciding to wait 4 days for whatever reason.

I've gotten the sense that a lot of Sox fans are expecting Eloy to slash something like .295/.340/.500 right away. That would be great, and he probably is the type of player that can kill MLB pitching right away. Some of his projections even suggest that such a slash line is possible. But I just hope that we aren't entering a situation where Eloy slashes .260/.320/.450 and people get disappointed, given that such a line would be above average, especially for a 22 year old

I've ventured to the White Sox reddit before. I must say it was a really weird community, where most of the conversation was about random, unrelated topics. Actual White Sox discussion was suppressed and stuff like that was the center of discussion. I'd imagine some Sox fans are turned off by that culture so they use Soxtalk, Twitter, etc. to engage with fellow fans instead.

This is very debatable. There's even a case to be made that he hurt them more than he helped them.

I'd figure that someone as data driven as yourself would know that your personal experience on this scale is anecdotal evidence and is statistically irrelevant.

My opinion on it has always been that they did not need Chapman to win that championship (he wasn't even particularly good in the playoffs). Their bullpen was already solid and a lesser reliever acquisition would've yielded the same result. I know I'm in the minority though.
