  1. Trade an outfield prospect for a SP, trade for Joc
  2. I used Twitter's advanced search features by keyword and date to verify that he was the first to tweet things
  3. If you really wanna go down that road, he's far from the only random account to have tweeted something like that over the past few days
  4. That random Patriots fan actually has broken Patriots stuff in the past concerning players' suspensions
  5. Plus the report that Harper is signing today. It's all too much smoke for this to be untrue. yes I'm joking
  6. The Padres are not one of those teams we need to significantly outbid, though.
  7. If Harper is actually signing today (which I am skeptical about), I think it’s with us. It would be so White Sox in terms of the secrecy, misdirection, etc. My only other guess would be the Padres.
  8. If the money is exactly equal between us and San Diego, I have a really hard time seeing him choosing the Padres given his disdain for the west coast, his family and friends being on the Sox, the much easier AL Central, etc.
  9. With state taxes, a Sox offer of 260 would be about equal to a Padres offer of 285
  10. The only chance is if the rumors of Harper signing somewhere today are true. In that case I could see Lozano wanting to wait a bit
  11. Yesterday he said that the announcement is on hold because we're trying to sign Harper too. Which is part of why all the #both chatter occurred here yesterday afternoon
  12. But especially today
  13. In addition to the link I just shared, The Athetic also posted an MLB player poll last summer. For "which team has the best fans", the White Sox were one of 10 teams to receive votes, and for "which team has the worst fans", the White Sox received zero votes. All this, straight from the players and MLB writers, seems a lot more convincing to me than a poster on a message board claiming that the Sox are a bottom 5 team to play for just because.

  15. I guess the $17 million thing is a great stat if you want to provoke outrage, but it's both untrue/misleading and not at all indicative of the respective teams' spending habits.
  16. $23 million more, and when you adjust for inflation it's about $34 million more
  17. Ad nauseam. Lozano has done a good job today.
  18. Once again, climate is irrelevant. Chicago summers are plenty warm, and there’s no baseball in the winter
  19. They’d be wrong, though
  20. I have a really hard time seeing him come up empty-handed here.
  21. I think a good rule of thumb is to not put stock in either direction into what Rick Hahn has said to the media lately. Even just yesterday, he said there's nothing to gain from him giving a public update on Machado until anything is finalized, so he prefers to stay silent. That's the one thing I trust he's actually being 100% honest about.
  22. And like I said, any answer that doesn't shut it down would lead to the fanbase going crazy. That's not something he likes to do.
