No, it's just more important that Engel gets ABs. (I know Delmonico can't play center, but Leury can yet he's in a corner spot)

Here are the facts. At 5:51 PM CT, FutureSox's Clinton Cole tweets this: He has since sarcastically replied that this was about a pizza that he was eating. At about 6:40 PM, the White Sox announced that Avisail Garcia was scratched from the lineup and was feeling "under the weather". Rick Renteria was not very descriptive about Avi's illness. And, finally, on the pre-game show, Chuck Garfien almost cryptically implied that Avi may be traded before the deadline. Maybe he isn't really under the weather. Anyway, this is a pretty wild conspiracy without much evidence but it's being talked about on Twitter so I figured I'd bring it here.

That doesn't mean it's not rehab. Madrigal was assigned to Kannapolis, for example, but everyone knows it's a rehab stint and he's being promoted soon. Could be similar here, except not as publicized

Yeah, most of them do and there are a select few that concern themselves with newer metrics. Either way, they're athletes, not necessarily intellectuals, and I don't fault them for using the stats that were available since they were kids. It's different with fans, though.

July 31, James Shields starts or...?
Jose Abreu replied to Southwest Sider's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That would be my ideal scenario. However, after 8.1 shutout innings, the timing wouldn't be ideal for Covey to lose his spot. Regardless, I don't think he's a starter long-term and I would like to see his innings (and Shields') given to Kopech and Stephens. -
And from a catcher, they're more than just respectable. They're a major asset

You'd think a lot of it is youthful instant gratification culture. That said, however, you'd expect them to be happy or at least content with Moncada's numbers. But the numbers they seem to care about are outdated ones like batting average or fielding percentage. That may be a clue as to the demographic of posters who are so anti-Moncada.

July 31, James Shields starts or...?

If it's not Shields, I'd bet on a Santiago/Volstad bullpen game. It should be Stephens or Kopech though, based on who deserves the call. I think we'll see both pretty soon. One to replace Shields, and one to be the 6th starter in a 6-man rotation to limit innings of the young guys down the stretch -
Well, if he's a 3-4 WAR player after 600 or so at bats, maybe he'll be ok

Delmonico -
I feel bad after reading that article that discussed how seriously he took eating healthy and taking care of his body, but then got to Winston-Salem and discovered that he couldn't maintain that lifestyle. Now he's eating a different Domino's pizza every night apparently

Also a great job by Leury to come in from left field and cover third
-
Thanks for the outs, Seattle!

Engel's 49th batting stance of the year leads to the same result of the first 48

I didn't think there was a play. By the time the throw got there Segura would already be standing on the base so no point in taking the risk

Eloy has a .910 OPS in non-Charlotte ballparks this season
-
-
You're right, but a 21 PA sample just doesn't cut it, especially when AA pitching is harder than AAA pitching so it's not like this is some greater challenge for him. He's proven that he can hit under pretty much any circumstance, hitter's park, pitcher's park, neutral park, etc.
-
If 21 PAs outside of Charlotte is enough for you to think he's not doing that well, then ok. It's not like he struggled to hit at the Barons' home park, which is a major pitcher's park.
-
Or, maybe, keeping him in AAA is hurting his development and he needs to be facing tougher competition so that he can improve as a player. It can be argued that said developmental time is more important that potentially having him for an extra year, which may not even happen because of the new CBA
-
Where did you see that? I read his Eloy article but didn't get that vibe from it.
-
I don't think he's ready for Winston-Salem. Needs to get that average above .625 for me to even consider it.
