QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) Think we will see a Schwarber for Betances trade this offseason I'd love for the Yankees to accept that
-
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 08:46 AM) IIRC, Archer is a FA, so unless they're trading Schwarber there for his rights or something, I don't think they have to get rid of Schwarber to obtain Archer. He's under team control until 2022

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:05 PM) They have gone to 3 straight LCS, have 1 WS and the window is still wide open. They have a reason to be optimistic. They're still a force but changes have to be made. They won't win much with a rotation of Quintana/Hendricks/Lester/Montgomery/Tseng. I don't know that they'll be able to replace Arrieta/revamp the bullpen just by trading Schwarber, either, given his lack of trade value. They may need to trade someone like Happ or Russell.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 10:24 PM) I hate to say it but I turned the TV on just to see the Dodgers celebrate on the field. ^

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:29 PM) If they did 4 team divisions, they’d have to play 27+ games each against division opponent to avoid division winners getting in under .500. I can’t be more clear about this- eight divisions of four teams wouldn’t work in baseball. They aren’t playing that many games against division opponents and they aren’t risking division winners under .500. Well put. I remember the 7-9 Seahawks made the playoffs a few years ago. Baseball can't turn into that.

QUOTE (Nokona @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) Q is going to have to endure an entire offseason of mouthbreathers like Kaplan going in on him. I wonder how he'll take to it My God, Kaplan is such a moron. How he's employed/respected is beyond me. His lack of baseball knowledge is just depressing

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Geography. Any expansion on the west coast likely moves Colorado to a division with midwest teams. It comes down to either the Brewers or the Rockies changing leagues, and the Brewers fought like hell to get out of the AL 20 years ago, and the Rockies would naturally align with the Royals as their states share a border. Makes sense. Thanks
-
What's with the fascination of moving Colorado to the AL? It seems to be a common trend in these proposals. Is it because of Coors Field and the DH? Because in this realignment, the DH would probably be universal anyway.

Pitchers hitting is such a boon to NL pitching stats that people don't seem to realize. If you're facing a hitter with a .250 OPS 11% of the time as opposed to a big time power hitter, your numbers are going to be much better. This is why I think that both pitching and hitting in the AL are superior to the NL, although most who I've talked to disagree with me

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 05:35 PM) And it takes time away from Narvaez to work with those pitchers so they learn and grow together. Narvaez will be around beyond one more season, Grandal will not. Plus, what would one year of Grandal cost? Won't be cheap. I'm actually curious to see what another season from Narvaez will bring. He's not bad defensively and has a good eye at the plate, oh and only 25. I like Narvaez as a backup when we're contending, but he's horrendous defensively
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) If you add in his framing Grandal is a ~5 WAR catcher, no way the Dodgers trade him, and if they do he won't come cheap. I understand how good his framing is, but do you really think it adds ~2.5 to his WAR?
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 05:20 PM) For one season or less of Grandal? No thanks, I don't see the point. He'd be much better for our pitching prospects than Narvaez/Smith
-
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) I'd hate if this brought about the end of the DH because I despise watching pitchers attempt to hit. I hope that it goes the other way. I dont know what the hell people find entertaining about pitchers being an automatic out, for all intents and purposes. If anything, I'm sure it would be the end of pitchers hitting rather than the end of the DH.

With the emergence of Austin Barnes, it's likely that the Dodgers end up trading Grandal in the offseason. Since he'd be a free agent after the 2018 season, he'd just be here to work with the young pitchers and help us with his elite framing. I'd imagine that the price tag wouldn't be too much (we could even trade someone useful from our utility player glut, especially if they decline the option on Forsythe), and guys like Lopez, Kopech, Giolito, Fulmer, and Rodon could benefit from him. He also happens to be a close friend of Zack Collins, who may be up here by the end of the year. As an option for only 2018 to help with our pitching staff, would he make sense?
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Why not? We'd lose players. The Hawks would look a lot better with TVR, Kruger (technically not drafted but may have been a byproduct of the draft) etc.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 16, 2017 -> 04:40 PM) Zelda is my suggestion. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) Breath of the Wild. And wait two weeks for Mario QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 16, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) What kind of games are you into? Breath of the Wild & Mario Odyssey are no brainers if you like big single player experiences. Splatoon 2 probably isn’t for everyone, but it’s an incrediblely popular online multiplayer game and the campaign is actually really good (although pretty short). Snipperclips & Puyo Puyo Tetris are both great multiplayer games that are perfect to play with your wife/girlfriend. If you’re into sports games, FIFA is your only other option, although it’s lacking some features of the PS4/Xbox One versions. And there are a ton of great indies, with Steamworld Dig 2 & Cave Story being standouts IMO. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) ARMs is pretty fun too, a weird fighter game. The online play is really fun Thanks. Sounds like Zelda is a must-buy, and I'll look into the others.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 12:36 AM) PS4 Pro, Star Wars edition just announced. Cost is $450, comes with BF2, and has a custom Star Wars design on the unit. But rumors are the PS4 Pro, just the system, will be $299 most places for Black Friday, so I plan to get one from Best Buy, and then sell my current PS4. How much do you think you'd get for your current PS4?

Just bought a Switch, with NBA 2K18 and Mario Kart. Any suggestions?

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) 200 mil = 20 tens Or 200,000,000 $1s. So he's only losing some amount of single dollars by coming now. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) Why, it's not like anything would happen to him. Couple of Republicans would come out and say how disappointed they were and then go and do nothing. And from his supporters: "Video is fake, has been doctored. Maga!"

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) Im somewhat shocked that there hasnt been more blow back over the Pence thing. Personally I find it pretty disrespectful to be invited to someones place of business and then you make a spectacle of yourself. Its like going to a friends house for thanksgiving and then leaving because they served turkey. Just terrible manners. He didn't even go, did he? I thought the picture he posted was from 3 years ago, which is why everyone has been making fun of him for faking the whole thing to provoke outrage
