Jose Abreu

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:18 PM) So? Then the Sox have two closers instead of one. It'd be even better. Shortening the game is important nowadays. The Sox FO doesn't give a f*** about shortening the game, they care about winning. Paying $74 million to have two closers is completely unnecessary.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) For half a season where your in a playoff chase it's not dumb to have two lock down closers. That allows you to trade Kimbrel in the winter for prospects or another impact piece. It'd be smart ass hell I think for the rest of the year. It's expensive as hell too. We didn't pay Robertson $46 million this offseason to be an 8th inning guy.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) How is it dumb? That's just like the Royals did last year. No it isn't? They had Greg Holland. He was/is their closer.

QUOTE (Billness33 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) Bob Nightengale (USA TODAY's baseball columnist) is reporting the Sox are currently on the phone with Detroit. They're looking to get Cespedes and move Garcia... Where did you hear the bold? Also, this is being discussed in Trade Winds (Trade Winds).

QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Avi not starting tonight... I never said anything about Garcia. I think it's dumb to have two expensive, premier closers on one team. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) I feel like Upton would require someone like Adams, and with the way Upton has been hitting the last two months that could have disaster written all over it. Pass. He has improved over the past week or so, though

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 57s57 seconds ago Sources: #Padres progressing on multiple deals, with Ross a key piece. Moving him would signal concession in ’15. But looking at adding too. Maybe one is with us for Upton?

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) Upton, Ross, Kimbrel for Avi, Montas, Danish, Danks... Lol I wish Kimbrel and Robertson on the same team?

We'd probably have to take Upton's brother too. They play everywhere together now.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 1m1 minute ago Have heard chisox are on upton and cespedes now. Things have really turned around for south siders https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS My lord oh wow...

Rick Slattery ‏@rickslat123 36m36 minutes ago Sources: @whitesox deal for Pierzynski imminent. @Braves #MLBTradeDeadline Don't worry, this is the same guy who said we traded Tim Anderson for Samardzija last November.

From Seattle for Jose Ramirez (the pitcher, not the infielder) and Ramon Flores

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) We now have 6 pages across 2 threads discussing Justin f***ing Sellers To be fair, some of these pages are about Cespedes

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) Chris Cotillo did report it earlier that he was likely to be traded. Why is there so much reporting on this guy? He's a minor leaguer yet these two insiders are up-to-date with his rumors... funny how Nightengale/Rosenthal etc. have been breaking news on big names, while these two guys are reporting on Justin Sellers.

QUOTE (bjm676 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) Well #12 is now available. Only to be taken by Justin Sellers!

James Fox ‏@JamesFox917 50s50 seconds ago Justin Sellers means nothing. Micah injured. Anderson not ready. Leury, Sanchez, Saladino all in majors. Need depth. #WhiteSox

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) He looks like a real winner: http://www.chadmoriyama.com/2013/01/everyb...eing-a-dips***/ What a guy.

Here we were talking about Cespedes, when meanwhile, we were acquiring this Sellers kid.

QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) He's a AAAA SS. Precursor to a SS trade? Saladino and Sanchez can play SS. And Micah can be called up to play 2B for Sanchez if he slid over, so I don't think so.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Who the f is Justin sellers http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/selleju01.shtml

Let's be real here, it's not like many of us were thinking about signing Cespedes long-term this offseason anyway. Not with our current group of outfielders, and for the assumed price.

Cespedes' career at US Cellular Field: 14-50 (.280) 3 HR 4 RBI

Damn, just looking at that lineup and imaging Cespedes in it for LaRoche is great... (if you don't know what I'm talking about then go to Trade Winds)
