  1. Lol, did Benetti really just say that Chris Davis is "not the guy you want to have up as the tying run" unironically?
  2. Yeah Walker hasn't been getting enough love either. They're both too talented for their current assignments.
  3. 4th time Abreu has destroyed the ball, yet he's 1-4
  4. Really weird bullpen management today, even for Ricky.
  5. Leury really working that BA/OBP differential today!
  6. Nothing like burning a reliever for 2 pitches in the 6th inning
  7. Which play are you referring to re:Moncada?
  8. Abreu has killed the ball 3 times tonight
  9. Not sure if Palka would've made that catch in RF.
  10. He's so much better than his peers that trying to take walks isn't even a preferred outcome, i.e. an aggressive approach is the best way to go for now
  11. It's the elbow he had TJ on, I believe. Yes, that was him, but after some time with that he ended up just getting the surgery edit- and this year, he has been exclusively DHing as well
  12. Rodon is now listed for Wednesday
  13. I've always felt like one of Forbes/Yrizarri (however the hell you spell it) is gonna become useful somehow.
  14. Except I did mention that, in my first post. I said that no matter how good the fielder's arm is, Anderson is too fast to get thrown out on a ball hit that deep. I'm not going to waste my time looking up stats since you're the lone individual who disagrees that Anderson's speed is a factor in your scenarios.
  15. You keep using the term "Baseball 101" and telling us to learn the game. Part of "Baseball 101" is knowing your strengths and weaknesses, which in this case dictate that Tim Anderson tagging from first to second is not an inherently risky decision.
  16. No, you can’t keep saying this. You can’t tell me “I don’t care how fast Tim is” and then say that. You’re just completely ignoring his speed to suit your narrative. This scenario would not have happened, unless Tim tripped while running or something, which is so unlikely that it’s not even worth discussing.
  17. Sure it's not 100% risk-free but it's so close to it that the difference is negligible. What you keep missing in these responses is Tim Anderson's speed. He wasn't getting thrown out on a tag up because he's too fast to be thrown out at second on even a good throw from the warning track in left field, and that's if the fielder even goes to second as opposed to the cut-off man
  18. Well, you're asking someone who thinks Robert was pretty close to MLB ready based on talent alone the day we signed him, and someone who thinks he's the best prospect the Sox have had during the rebuild. So I may be a little biased. He does need some more seasoning. When I say he's an MLB-caliber player, that's largely a result of talent. Sure, he could "succeed" as a pinch runner/defensive replacement in MLB right now. If you gave him a season of PAs right now, however, I think he'd put up numbers pretty similar to Moncada last year, but maybe subtract some of the walks and add a bit more power. So a lot of strikeouts, but some pop which gives him somewhere between a 90 and 100 wRC+. Relative to his age, that isn't bad. If he goes to AA soon and sees MLB by early-mid 2020, which is both what I want to happen and what I think will happen, he may be able to cut down on the strikeouts enough so that he doesn't have 200+ of them like Moncada, but they'll always be a part of his game, most likely.
  19. Robert has an insane BABIP because he's an MLB-caliber player playing against single-A competition. Eloy had a crazy BABIP in AAA, as did Juan Soto at every level. There won't be any major regression because his contact is so good that a high BABIP is sustainable.
  20. Sure, that's all correct, but there's a reason players who have that much raw talent/power strike out a lot. It's probably impossible for Gallo, with his swing, to strike out significantly less, but what he is right now is an extremely good hitter.
