Sox seem like they might be in a good spot with shark. Alot of teams needing pitching and with cueto and hamels being better but costing a higher return then most teams are willing to cough up the mid tier pitchers will get more teams going after them. Should be interesting seeing the bidding wars might open up.

Toronto will get a first hand look at shark when he pitches against them on thursday.

Problem is sale is nibbling with his off speed stuff and throwing fast balls in the zone

Chris sale stats He leads the majors with 141 Ks, the second-highest total in White Sox history before the All-Star Break behind Wilbur Wood’s 142 in 1973. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203705515638784 His average of 12.28 strikeouts per 9.0 IP would be the highest total for a starting pitcher in @MLB since Johnson averaged 13.41 in 2001. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203572510031872 He's on pace to post a franchise-record 289 Ks, which would be the highest total in @MLB since Randy Johnson fanned 290 in 2004. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203364283822081 His 75 strikeouts in June broke Juan Pizarro’s franchise monthly record of 61 set in August 1961. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203837124472832 His 766 strikeouts through his first 100 career starts are the highest total in major-league history, according to Elias. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618203907110633472 He has struck out 10 or more batters 27 times in 100 career starts, 12 or more 16 times & has recorded six games w/ 10-plus Ks and no walks. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/618204080339554304

Kinda think it's funny when it comes to the white sox offense people are trying to blame everyone else expect for the coaches that actually needs to be blamed and probably should have been the first canned and hasnt. Let's blame robin for the players not hitting instead of the 2 hitting coaches the sox have. Let's blame kw and Hahn for the players not hitting instead of the 2 hitting coaches the sox have. The sox have 2 hitting coaches peeps and they can't seem to get the hitters to hit. I think that's the first line of blame to go then trying to peg your manager which is not his job to teach hitters how to hit. Most of the guys that are on the team were hitting better last year here or some place else and this year most are horrible.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) yeah, but the pen is the best group the sox have. it is the batters or lack of, in the beginning of the season, that dug the hole. now if you can look at the rest of the positional players, as nice as this team is looking, it has some huge gaping holes, that the org doesn't have a replacement players. but damn, this team could have been fantastic. fvvck the fo for not finishing the job. Actually the starting rotation was a huge factor in the first month also with digging the hole they are in. The big three of sale, shark and quintana which was suppose to be the rocks in the rotation were pretty bad in the first month. Sale had a 5.32 era, shark was 4.78 and quintana had a 6.55 in april.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/cafa...-blue-jays.html Jeff Samardzija “may be the first starting pitcher moved ahead of the trading deadline” since “scouts are constantly at his games,” Cafardo writes. The White Sox aren’t ready to start selling yet, but they’ll find a strong market for Samardzija’s services that includes the Royals,Astros and Tigers. (Cafardo cited several more teams in the Samardzija market in his column last week.

Red Sox looking for cost controlled pitchers

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Generally speaking: Betts is untouchable, you guys are treating him as merely a starting point for a deal. Swihart would be a realistic prized centerpiece, you guys are treating him like he could be the second or third piece. There's no way they'd give up both Margot and Devers, and probably only one of them if the centerpiece is a notch below Swihart. THey'd probably push hard to make on of those two THE centerpiece. Let me be clear: I'm NOT advocating trading Quintana. The best case scenario, realistically, is probably Swihart, Kopech/Chavis, two solid arms you haven't heard of. I'm not saying it's good, I'm just trying to be realistic. We need to remember that a young, controllable, above average position player is more valuable than a similar pitcher, and positional prospects are valued extremely highly right now. Again swihart was asked as a starting point by Philly and boston told them no. Why would he then be available to stating point for quintana. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 24m24 minutes ago #Tigers, #Astros and #Royals reportedly in the mix for Jeff Samardzija. @Gelman_Scott with details: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/4/88944...rs-trade-rumors … I really hate when people write articles and can't get facts straight. Samardzija didn't sign in the offseason he was trade for by the sox and they agreed on his final year of arbitration before he hits free agency.

Red Sox looking for cost controlled pitchers

Hate to break your guys heart but talking about swihart or Betts for quintana isn't going to happen. Phillies were wanting one of the 2 for starting a package for hamels which is a ace and boston wasn't going for it. There are numerous articles saying swihart is red sox future catcher and also saying that Betts isn't getting moved either. So yes quintana isn't a ace like Hamels and if boston isn't moving one of the 2 for hamels they are for sure not moving them for quintana. Now quintana has been doing his thing in the American League for the past 4ish years sofar and has gotten better but doesn't have the longer track record in the bigs like hamels. -

Last time lynn pitched in 2012 against sox. I remember him mowing down hitters. 7.1 ip, 3 hits, 1bb and set his career high with 12 ks against the sox.
