Sports Mockery fixes the White Sox
QUOTE (coco1997 @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Sports Mockery posted this article the other day. Some intriguing ideas, though I'm not sure I'd be on board with all of them. - Trade LaRoche, Flowers and cash to PHI for DH Ryan Howard - Trade Quintana, Garcia, Montas and Jones to LAD for RF Yasiel Puig and 3B Jacob Turner - Sign C Jarrod Saltalamacchia - Sign LHP Mark Buehrle - Sign LHP Neal Cotts - Re-sign C Geovany Soto Projected lineup: 1. Adam Eaton CF 2. Melky Cabrera LF 3. Yasiel Puig RF 4. Jose Abreu 1B 5. Ryan Howard DH 6. Justin Turner 3B 7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia C 8. Tyler Saladino SS 9. Carlos Sanchez 2B Projected rotation: Chris Sale LHP Carlos Rodon LHP Erik Johnson RHP Mark Buehrle LHP John Danks LHP Projected 2016 payroll: $128 million Thoughts? I'm not comfortable with Saladino as our starting SS, and I definitely think the LAD trade would be an overpay on the Sox part. I'd prefer to get their young catcher Austin Barnes back in that deal. Apparently they are making a mockery of the Sox in those deals. Ryan Howard has 25 million on his 2016 contract vs 13 for Laroche. Why would the Sox send Philly money when it should be the other way around. The Sox are way overpaying in the Dodgers deal. That would be fleecing the sox. Plus I doubt the Dodgers want garcia. If they move puig they are probably going after one of the top outfielders on the market like Heyward.

White sox open to trading Avisail Garcia
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) If people want Ozuna so badly, trade Avi for him. Change of destination trade. Both have basically sucked: too little OBP and too many Ks. You could try to make that trade but with the Marlins wanting starting pitching in return for ozuna it probably won't work for avi. The main point is why does anyone want ozuna. It's not a one of the main position of need and trading to get him would not make sense and wood be poor choice to spend what little resources this organization has.

White sox open to trading Avisail Garcia
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) In what world are they poor talent evaluators? Was it when they gave Abreu the largest contract in team history? Or when they traded for Eaton? Or when they drafted Sale? Or when they pulled Quintana off the scrap heap? Or do you want to go back further in KW's tenure like when he acquire Contreras for a broken down Loaiza? Or when he acquired Thornton for Borchard? Besides Eaton and Abreu they have seem to be poor talent evaluators on position side of things. Most of the guys you mentioned has been pitching which yes they can better evaluate. When it comes to position players they are not as good. They haven't developed a very good position player in a long time. Even when they get guys with upside talent they can't seem to get them going or come here and cant produce.

"The White Sox, Black Holes, and Trading Quintana
No idea. The two teams I've been told the Cubs have spoken to specifically are the Indians and the White Sox. https://t.co/lZXrenKF5p https://twitter.com/JulieDiCaro/status/667062207369388032 @JulieDiCaro @jgaepi so the White Sox have talked to the cubs about Baez and/or Soler? https://twitter.com/whisox05/status/667066288280240128 @whisox05 @jgaepi Don't know what names were discussed on the Cubs end. The discussions were about pitching. Assume Quintana was the target. https://twitter.com/JulieDiCaro/status/667106773996843009 Ran across the tweet. I tweeted her and she replied back.

"The White Sox, Black Holes, and Trading Quintana
QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Improve the defense and base running considerably and this team gets better in a hurry without dealing Quintana. If you trade Q, it better be for a package like Hamels or better. Yes better on the base running but you need to get guys on base in the first place. The Sox were like near the bottom in opb and all of the Sox position players were in the middle to bottom half in all of baseball. Need offensive guys desperately and I honestly believe the only way besides free agency is using Quintana as trade bait.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (GREEDY @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 10:19 AM) Boy could the White Sox use the players the Reds are rumored to be shopping. Frazier, Phillips, Bruce. I'd like to roll the dice on Homer Bailey & who wouldn't love to have Aroldis Chapman? Eaton Phillips Abreu Frazier LaRoche/Melky Bruce/Avi Melky/Thompson Flowers Saladino/Sanchez Sale Quintana Bailey Rodon Whomever is left after the Reds raid the cupboard Chapman Robertson Duke Petricka Jones Putnam Jennings This would ONLY add about 60+ million to the '16 payroll & likely wipe out the farm system lol. (I would hope the Sox could shed Danks &/or some $ by taking on Bailey & Bruce). Still a fairly poor defensive team. Best rotation in AL. Rival KC for best bullpen. Yes, I know Jay Bruce has been awful for two seasons. In this fantasyland I assume that taking him on is a requirement to being able to afford Frazier/Chapman. Unless the Sox can pull off something ridiculous like this, I don't see what the point of trying to compete next season. They said somewhere that Bailey might not even be ready to later in season. Tho I'm sure the Sox would like those players but listing of what kinda cost it's going to take

White Sox still deciding on what to do
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) I'm not buying this at all. If you believe this then you're a dummy. They know what they're going to do and who they're targeting. Well of course they know who that want to get. They would be pretty stupid to come out and say we want player A from this team and player B from that team but here is all we are willing to give up to get them. The issue is if there are player they want and can't get them and they are running our of options then they might have to change course and starting selling get off.

White Sox still deciding on what to do
Kenny Williams says White Sox still deciding on "Plan A, Plan B, Plan C" for the offseason with the winter meetings approaching. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/667002910530760704 Williams: "Rick (Hahn) is having conversation on a daily basis. David Robertson
The problem with trading Robertson is the Sox have no true closer. If the Sox want to compete this year they will need one. Yes you can try to slide Jones in but you don't know if he has the mentality to do it. Montas is a guy who just got some big league innings this year but definitely probably needs more development. We also learned what it was like not having a true closer in 2014 and trying to get by with what they had.

Should the White Sox and Astros talk trade?
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) No offense to anyone but do we really need two threads about the same topic? I'm just asking is all. But then it turns into a catch all thread and apparently people complain about having mixed information

Should the White Sox and Atlanta talk trade?
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) Who else do you think will be available? Besides Freeman (probably their best asset), Swisher and Bourn (wouldn't get much back)? Maybin? Some of their young starters in the MLB already to make room for guys just stock piled for? The article along with others out there are saying anyone that's owed some good amount of money is available
