  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) Watch Seattle jump into the Q sweepstakes with an offer of Smith/Vogelbach/O'Neill/Lewis. Would be nice if Houston had a division rival involved in the negotiations. They just got drew smyly.

  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Yes, but those are mostly 30+ FA "money-based" acquisitions. Trading pitching talent for positional talent isn't impossible. See Eaton for Santiago, or acquiring Carlos Quentin for another younger hitter. Theoretically, they also could have used Addison Reed and Sergio Santos to acquire positional talent back as well, but we know what happened there. Then there's Abreu and Alexei Ramirez, not to mention Japanese/Korean players. As far as Collins goes, they don't need to really begin to think about the catching situation until one year from now...depending on how close they are to fielding a competitive team in 2018. They've already addressed the veteran/pitch framer issue by bringing back Soto for one season. We just have to be patient. Again those 30+ free agent acquisitions are because they dont poney up for younger or better players. Yes you can trade pitching for position players but again thats what the sox had to do before and look where it got them. They've had to either trade for or pay for positions players alot over the years and hasnt gotten them no where. Sox wont go in a couple years and start throwing money at the harpers and machados of the world. They shouldn't start gutting their depth of pitching to bring in position players and weaken the depth. Quintana is one of the last blue chips left so they need to get at least 3 position players back.
  6. Every team would like to have a stud like Jose Quintana. But which club will pay the price in prospects? https://t.co/9I6L3tZWjw #HotStove https://t.co/FeRffkHWgd https://twitter.com/MLB/status/818632534552547328 Only thing i had an issue is with them calling Quintana a 2 or 3 starter. Hes a number 1 or 2 on most teams
  7. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) They're honestly the exact opposite of each other. The Cubs had and still have an over abundance of positional talent and had to buy pitching. The Sox are acquiring an over abundance of pitching talent and will most likely need to buy positional talent. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. They are adding talented players and playing into their strength - developing pitching. Cubs did the same thing only reverse and played into what they felt they were better at. The problem is we've seen the sox try buying position players and were its gotten them. Having pitching helps but if you cant put together the position side then you are right back where you started. Sox need to be working on getting position players back with the rest of the chips they have. They have no future 3rd baseman, 1st baseman, dh, and need more outfield depth. They dont have much catching until collins gets here which is a couple years away and thats if he fully stcks.
  8. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) Bryan Hoch of MLB.com writes that the Yankees continue to have dialogue with the White Sox about left-hander Jose Quintana. The Yankees haven't been willing to meet the understandable high asking price for Quintana thus far, but Hoch notes that pitching is the priority as the club prepares for spring training. "I think we'll stay engaged in the marketplace, and over time, if we do match up favorably with anybody where we can get what we want and they get what they want, then yes, we'll try to pull something down," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said on MLB Network. In addition to discussing Quintana, Hoch notes that the Yankees have shown at least some level of interest in free agent right-hander Jason Hammel. As of now, Masahiro Tanaka, Michael Pineda, and CC Sabathia are the only pitchers who will go into spring training assured of rotation spots with New York. 9. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Ignore Cafardo Not sure why you would ignore cafardo. Hes was one of the few that actually believed boston would try to go after sale when alot of people thought they had enough of a rotation and weren't going to add another starter.
  10. This is going to be a long day if there are no rumors lol
  11. Who's ready for our daily rumor/tease?
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Hahn has been on the phones to GMs everywhere doing his best Blago impression "I've got this thing and it's f***ing golden." 13. The #Yankees and #Pirates currently most aggressive teams in talks with #Whitesox about Quintana, and, yes, even discussed potential 3-way https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/813796600787206149
  14. @BNightengale reports Sox -Yanks expanded Quintana trade talks with D Robby. Pirates /Rangers and Astros still very engaged on Quintana https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/813790388221804545 Hopefully a bidding war
  15. Here goes another day of getting teased early and leaving us hanging until tomorrow lol
  16. The #Yankees have expanded their Jose Quintana talks with #Whitesox that would include closer David Robertson, if Sox eat part of contract https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/813749518969737216
  17. A source indicated the Pirates must dump salary even if they bring in an industry modest contract like Quintana's. Thus McCutchen $27Mil https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/812394094869749760
  18. the problem with that interesting pitts-nyy-cws rumor is if yanks trade prospects, they'd want quintana, not an OF https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/812370409630892032
  19. I wanted to spill the beans on the Sox/Pitt/NYY deal so bad yesterday, but my scout source wouldn't let me, that's on me everyone https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/812334206370062336
  20. My sources confirmed this very package yesterday, and the Sox loved Rutherford pre-draft. LETS GET IT ON! https://t.co/mBZWSGVjPN https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/812326824608989184
  21. Top pirates pitching prospect Tyler Glasnow almost has to be in proposed deals for quintana. Pitts unlikely to deal Meadows https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/812130819699593225

  24. Yanks did show interest in Quintana (@jonmorosi on it) but don't want to part w/frazier or Torres so likely a non-starter https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/811720851435438080
  25. The #Rangers are another club that's inquired on #WhiteSox Jose Quintana. But Texas is probably not serious suitor unless price drops. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/811660260574380032 The teams discussed Quintana at trade deadline. Heard #WhiteSox wanted Profar and a "lot more.'' The ask was too steep for #Rangers tastes. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/811660399171014656
