White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) In fairness, we did have Nieto up in '14. True, but Nieto was with the Sox because they didn't want to give him back to the Nats so they had to keep him up all season in order to retain him.

White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) They aren't moving on though. He'll be back for less $$. He wants to be in Chicago. I think so too Jimmy. Gonna be fun to see the comments around here if Alexei is brought back.

White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez
I cracked up at the fan that said to bring up that kid Tim Anderson. Sure dude, call up a position player that has yet to play for AAA.

White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) He'll be back. One or two year deal. Yep. Wouldn't be surprised if its a 1 year guaranteed with a second year option of some sort. Alexei buys the Sox time for Anderson.

State of the White Sox Address a Position
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) It was on the internet. I think Dan Hayes but can't remember. Doesn't mean they won't, but that, and probably correctly, isn't the plan. Is this it DA? "Trade assets: Quintana's name frequently gets brought up in the "you have to give up something excellent to get something excellent in return" scenario. But the White Sox seem more inclined to trade some of their younger Minor League hurlers as opposed to breaking down their Major League strong suit." http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/156...-roster-upgrade

State of the White Sox Address a Position
Just my .02 cents but I think the SOX called up Montas because they see something in him and wanted him to work with Cooper on some things. Agree with those that say its way too early to write off a 22 year old with that kind of stuff.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) For the record caulfield didn't come up with that. It's in the comments section of the page he linked to. Do a better job of attributing things that aren't your own thoughts. Clearly it's confusing to a lot of people. Thanks for clarifying that. I did think that was Caulfield's idea, my bad Caulfield.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 06:26 AM) Quintana/Adams for....the steal deal of the century (love those 4-6 for 1-2 plans they come up with) mlbtraderumors Cubs get a solid pitcher in quintana and a potential stud in spencer who has a ways to go before making his MLB debut seeing as he’s only like 19 years old (at LEAST 2 years away…. more likely 3-4). Sox get the young position prospects they DESPERATELY need. They get a better SS in Castro over having to keep worse Alexei Ramirez…. regardless what Sox fans say. Castro’s down year this year is not too far off a typical Ramirez year. They also get a HR masher in Vogelbach who has superb plate discipline to play 1B/DH with Abreu. They get a solid hitting catching prospect in Zagunis. They get a gold glove in waiting in Almora who scouts say could hit about .280 or better and develop into a 20 HR hitter…… especially playing in US Cellular. And I’ll throw in pierce johnson as a toss in. Projects to be a 3-4 starter if he pans out. Cough up 1 ML pitcher and a pitching prospect for 4 players who could address almost all the Sox weaknesses on offense within 2 years. It at least gives you positional prospect hope. Looked at the top position prospects the Sox have listed on their website……. it’s pretty ugly. This hypothetical trade is more than fair imo. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/offs...hite-sox-6.html A few problems with this idea. The masher Vogelbach only hit 7HR in 254 PA for AA, not much of a masher as of yet. Zagunis is listed as an outfielder so it doesn't sound like the cubs have much faith in him at the catcher position. Also, this is the kind of trade that a rebuilding team makes and last I heard the Sox were not going to rebuild, not that I would be against it. I do like the names you threw out there but aside from Castro, none of them can help the Sox in '16.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) Wouldn't it be cool if Mr. Hahn altered about 70 percent of the entire Sox 2016 roster? 1B-Abreu. 2B-Zobrist. SS-new guy 3B - new guy LF - new guy CF - Eaton RF - new guy to platoon with Trayce. C - new guy P - Sale, Q, Rodon, new guy new guy. Bullpen - Robertson, new guy times nine. DH - new guy. Please give us a new ballclub, Mr. Hahn even if it has to be very young. p.s. Little surprised to see The Grandy Man is halfway thru a four-year deal that pays him 15 million a year. That's a lot of cash for the aging Grandyman, though I've always wanted him in a Sox uniform. We can't afford that so no reason for me to dream of a deal involving Grandy for Danks and Beckham and a Class A non-prospect prospect. Where was your clamoring for Granderson BEFORE the playoffs? Mr.Hindsight. BTW, Beckham is a FA and why would the Mets want Danks when they have more than enough pitching that is better than Danks?

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) in actuality, i wouldn't put it past his camp if Desmond gets that QO, he might accept it. Certainly possible. To be honest, I'd rather have Alexei at 2/3 the cost of Desmond.

White Sox sign Lombardozzi to minor league deal
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) It's a minor league contract. Maybe it's a favor to a scout or an agent, or maybe they just need another infielder at Charlotte. Besides, they can waive him in Spring Training, and the White Sox bank account will never even know he was in the organization. It didn't make sense to me at first due to the IF depth the Sox already have but you make a few good points. Edit: makes even more sense now that Beckham has filed for FA.

Reports: Miami Marlins hire Don Mattingly as manager
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) That, and the almost certain at least 2 years of getting paid to lounge around. Kinda like Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own?

Styx opening for Def Leppard?
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) I don't think I would walk across the street to see a free Def Leppard show. Me either. I would run the opposite direction in an effort to get as far away as possible. f*** me, I can't stand that band!

Styx opening for Def Leppard?
I'd be interested in seeing Tesla and to a lesser extent Styx but I would have less than zero interest in Leppard. Didn't like em in the 80's and that hasn't changed. Even Beavis and Butthead made fun of Leppard

My/Your Off Season Plan
If Desmond really gets somewhere in the 15M+ range annually, Alexei's 10M doesn't sound so bad at all. Especially since the Sox have more pressing needs than SS.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 06:32 AM) you have very good logic in your reasoning. it is not what we hope but what the sox org will do. then it is 3b then cat, then as you posted. i really don't know what to expect from the ss and 2b.... then i think we can safely say with MJ in the wings, 2b is covered.. Yep, 3B and C are likely the biggest priorities. SS I think we see Alexei back for one more season to bridge the gap to Anderson. 2B, I can live with Sanchez/Micah/Saladino for the '16 season to see if one of them will solidify that position and if not the SOX can look for one next winter. RF, unless the SOX open up payroll I think we'll see a ST battle between Avi and Trayce for the spot. Honestly, if the Sox can do something to upgrade 3B and C I'd be happy. They will have an additional 28M to play with this time next year after Danks/LaRoche contracts are off the books and things should look much brighter.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 07:58 AM) One would think you could buy a house Maybe even a house that was lost due to a bet. Congrats to KC. Didn't want them to win but they flat out played better Baseball and deserved it.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) IMO it's a big offseason because they had a big one last offseason so can't have a sign Jeff Kepp and lets get to '16. We have holes, while I know we can't fill them all, so we have to make some moves and be aggressive. The creativity I'm thinking about is getting an impact bat without moving Q or Anderson, and Montas. I could see getting Upton or Cespedes. I just don't see us breaking the bank for Heyward (my pipe dream). That's going to be the tricky part no doubt. I don't think the SOX trade Q due to the lack of depth in AAA that could step into the rotation and they need the money for position players. I doubt they trade Anderson since they still believe he can stick at SS and he made big progress defensively this past season. Montas, call me crazy but I think the Sox try and keep him and trade Fulmer. I know some here will think I'm off my rocker but Montas throws mid to high 90's with ease and Fulmer is just violent with his motion. I could very well be wrong but I think the SOX could value Montas more than Fulmer. My hangup with the FA outfielders is the Sox have holes on the infield that need to be addressed, then again, the Sox lineup as a whole needs all the help it can get. So confusing.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) I'm very intrigued to see what Hahn does and how creative he can be. Same here. I trust in Hahn's creativity but not Kenny's. Hopefully the Sox turn Hahn loose to see what he can do.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) a voice of reason, but i wouldn't know if that is the order thats needs to be address. for me, i really see a major need in everyday players who position is needed for hitting, like 3b, dh, and the team can deal with a weak hitting catcher if needed, but it the opportunity is there. then yes address the catching position after getting another sp. so in order 3b dh, sp and sp. Hahn has said the Sox are looking for a 3B and they are rumored to be on the lookout for a catcher too. DH is a void no doubt but I've begrudgingly accepted LaRoche will be with the Sox in '16 so I leave that void out since there's literally no chance the Sox just cut him. Just gotta ride it out for one more season and hope LaRoche can give the Sox more than he did this past season. The Sox can definitely use another arm for more depth at SP but not sure if that's a good place to spend money with all the positional needs. 3B, C, SS, 2B and RF all under-performed in '15 so any kind of upgrade in any of those areas would be welcome. Hopefully Hahn will get creative and solve a few of the problems so we all can have a better outlook on the '16 season.
