  1. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 09:25 PM) I'd much rather have Niese over Greene. Niese is just 2 years older. Niese is two years older, much more expensive, left handed, pitched in the NL and also pitched in a pitchers park while Greene put up nice numbers pitching in the AL, in the most HR friendly park in all of baseball as well as in a very competitive ALE division. Just my opinion but I take Greene hands down over Niese, no contest.
  2. Alright, I'm buying into the Alexei for Greene rumor. NY needs a SS and the Sox could use a young, cost controlled ground ball, right handed pitcher like Greene. It just makes sense. Call me crazy but 6 years of team control over a pitcher like that sounds pretty damn good to me, sign me up.
  3. I doubt very seriously the sox sign Tomas. I am curious who he signs with. Most rumors have him tabbed for Philly which sounds about right. I doubt the Padres level of interest since Tomas has to play the field in the NL and then consider playing in the big spacious outfields in the NLW, yikes. Considering Tomas is speculated to get 12-15M annually, I'll tank Viciedo and his 4M thank you.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) I think the yanks will need to add 2 more prospect. I would love to snatch Clarkin away from the Yanks but there's no way the Yanks give up a kid like him for a 33 year old SS. I wonder if the Sox could get JR Murphy along with Greene?
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) and the sCrubs will still not win a WS. Sure they will... On Xbox, play station, nes, genesis, Atari 2600, colecovision, commodore 64 and intellivision. You just have to " wait til next year".
  6. I watched video of Greene last night on mlb.com and noticed he does miss location a bit more than a starter should. Kid has a nice two-seam he throws 93/94 with downward movement, a nice little slider that fooled batters and thought I had seen a few cutters as well. I would gladly take Greene but the Yanks should send another player with him in a trade for Alexei. Any chance the Sox could get the Yanks to bite on John Danks.
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Niese has team options in 2017 and 18, so unless he blows up, that's 4 years of control. My mistake and thanks for pointing it out. Makes the idea of Niese easier to swallow but as I said, IMO, Danks would have to be traded first and that's a whole other discussion. If the Sox are unable to grab Wheeler or Snydergaard ( not counting on it), then I would focus on Montero and minor leaguer for Alexei.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 10:48 AM) Read this. Thank you very much, I really enjoyed this. The videos were great and so was the writing.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) I don't really see in there were the teams have talked. I see one writer mention they are a good fit, and then a bunch of speculation. I never said the teams had talked so I have no idea what made you think otherwise.
  10. KW's role is to serve as " special assistant" to JR and KW's office is directly beneath JR's desk where KW is required to wear a batting helmet.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 07:32 AM) Syndergaard for Alexei would be an absolute steal. I'd be willing to throw in another piece too if that's what it took. Losing Alexei would suck, but adding a guy like Syndergaard would set up our rotation incredibly well for the next five years. It would also give us more financial flexibility to fix the offense/bullpen and make it easier to trade a guy like Montas or Danish in a package for an impact bat. I like the idea. The Sox could try throwing Sanchez into the discussions, since he has more idefensive infield versatility than Flores, and see what the Mets think. Maybe then the Sox stand a chance at one of Wheeler, Snydergaard, Montero. I really doubt it but I wonder if there's any chance at all that the Mets would have interest in Viciedo or even Jordan Danks as throw ins.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 06:06 AM) I would like ask a little question, what should the sox do with Anderson??? The Sox should not worry about Anderson until he is ready to make his Sox debut which is likely at least a year away. As I've said before, when Anderson is ready, the Sox will find a spot for him. Anderson may not end up at SS anyway. If Anderson does prove to be a SS, then slide Andrus over to second or possibly even third. As far as I'm concerned, second base is open until someone shows its their position. There will be no gimmies to Sanchez, Semien or Johnson.
  13. IMO, Andrus is not currently worth 15M per year but if he maintains his current production offensively/ defensively it won't be long before he is worth it. The FA market raises the pay scale every year. If Andrews could hit for .270-.280 average, hit 35+ 2B, steal 30+ bags and continue to play good defense, he's not only worth it but the Sox would be lucky to have him. At first I thought the idea was kinda crazy but after thinking about it, its really not that crazy at all. The Sox trade Alexei for a starting pitcher, replace Alexei with Andrus for the next 8 years, Danks will be gone creating a hole for Rodon to slide into. The Sox trade 24M+ in 2015 salary ( Alexei/ Danks) and take on 15M with Andrus which saves the Sox 9M but that does not include the salary of the pitcher Alexei is traded for. If its a guy like Montero from the Mets, he would cost 500k+ which brings the Sox saving to 8.4M+. I don't know how realistic any of this is, but its the kind of creativity the Sox might need to go along with a few FA signings.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 09:54 PM) Thanks for posting this. For everyone who's yet to read it.... Here's the hi8is cliff notes: Well done!
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 10:34 PM) Went on the Yankees board to see what they would offer for Alexei, one poster suggested JR Murphy and Shane Greene for Alexei. What do you guys think? Its a much better idea than some of the Mets proposals ( Gee, Niese, Colon). Greene is very interesting and I would not mind seeing what improvements he might make with Coop's help. Greene has good stuff.
  16. Don't recall this being posted. Talks about the potential for a Sox/Dodgers trade. http://lasordaslair.com/2014/11/09/alexei-...rtstop-dodgers/
  17. What about Danks + Alexei for Ethier + Arruebarrena? How far off is a trade like that?
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) Kluber winning is not a joke, not even close. If I had to pick between Kluber and Sale to win a game, it'd be Sale. But the Cy Young award isn't about that. It's about your body of work over a season. And Kluber's body of work included 70 more innings pitched. That's like pitching 10 more starts. That has a ton of value, especially when the guy pitching those innings had a 2.44 ERA, 2.35 FIP, and led the league in strikeouts. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) The two voters that took Sale 2nd are the real embarrassment. I'm glad it didn't cost Kluber an award he deserved just as much as Felix. http://bbwaa.com/14-al-cy/ QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:25 PM) Yup. To me Sale is the 2nd best pitcher in baseball at the moment but his body of work this season wasn't as good as Kluber or Felix. This was the correct vote. Agreed with all of this. I don't get how anyone can see it any other way.
  19. Montas vs Appel tonight No Sox players in the lineup tonight though.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) In 2018 the Tigers will be on the hook for over $80 million for Verlander, Miggy, Victor and the cash they owe Texas. Wow! Its likely none of those three will be tradeable by then too. Detroit has a troubled road ahead.
  21. I hope Castro is available. His value is pretty high so the cubs will want a kings randsome making Alexei look more attractive. I can see the Yanks and cubs working something out.
  22. I'm curious as to the level of interest the Sox have in Kang. He looks pretty good on defense and there's no denying his power. He could be alright after some time to adjust to the majors but as a few others have pointed out, that leg kick could cause him some problems against the better pitchers he would face in the majors.
  23. Both Corey and Felix were deserving and since neither wear a Sox uni, who won means less than zero to me. Congrats to Kluber though, dude had a hell of a season.
