White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
TheTruth05 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) I would assume it involved a pretty big raise. A big raise for darn near career suicide? He's been in the org for a while now, he must have know the way JR operates and how he let KW run things when he was assistant GM, but Hahn had interviews with other orgs. It's crazy to sit here and say he took a job somehow not knowing how the org works or that he was surprised last minute and had his hand tied. He absolutely knew how things are run in Sox FO. Hahn is huge part of this mess, just like KW and JR are. So of course I have no confidence the same guys who got us here will get us out. -

So Hahn took a job where KW would use him as a puppet? -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) To be fair, some of the buying moves had KW written all over them That's a narrative man, if Hahn let KW dictate his moves as a GM he's an even worse GM than I thought. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Because it's an indictment on Rick Hahn and the fact he's seemingly not on the hot seat is absolutely astonishing to me. He's the AL version of AJ Preller. This is spot on, sell the whole team but what does it matter when it's the same guy doing the selling who did the buying? Get a new FO completely or retool. -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 07:05 AM) Well they spent around the young guys that would stick when it was time to compete. Still kinda loaded in the minors. That I'll give you, they got some good players down on the farm. I just kinda meant they have made some really good trades (besides the Rizzo gift from Hoyer) and their veteran signings have been working so far. I think any successful team needs to have a decent mix like this, If Sox trade off they absolutely cannot strike out on these deals for Q and Sale, as this is basically their 1 current chance to start over and get a huge head start. They mess this up we might be looking at KC/Houston pre-2015 doing continual rebuilds every 2-3 years. -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:59 AM) Bringing in a plethora of young talent? Yeah terrible idea. Exactly like Lester, Zobrist, Montero, Lackey, Ross, etc. -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:06 AM) Score reverts back to the end of the 6th. One run off mike pelfrey....Todd's philosophy is not working Doesn't matter at this point, but the fact this guy still has a job is mind boggling. Even if your players suck, our hitters approach to the plate has been dismal under him with no improvement.

Hahn sounds pretty resigned. He realizes the crap product on the field can't be hidden anymore. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) According to Batman, yes - Batman... The offer for Sale was from Boston for Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech, and Basabe. That's not enough for Sale - caped crusader. Now there's a source! -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) Meanwhile Desmond is an MVP candidate Meh,who's to say Desmond wouldn't have come here and flopped.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) The eye test has said so but... .304 / .360 / .435 in last 7 games .304 / .344 / .411 in last 15 .287 / .344 / .452 in last 30 The last 7 days line is actually pretty surprising, I knew he was doing better but back to the Atlanta series he has looked pretty lethargic.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) Abreu needs to sit for a day or two. Can Morneau play the field or is he strictly a DH now? Give him a couple days off, frazier at 1st,salad at 3rd. He's slumping hard right now.

Man Felix must hate facing us.
-
men on base+home runs=damage! Morneau already paying off.
-
at least he's hitting some homers

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Turner is pitching on Friday vs Tigers (facing the incredible Fulmer). It's ridiculous he's pitching in a "meaningful" game. I said the exact thing earlier. They can't say they're still competing this season and throw Turner out there to be devoured by a divisional foe. Basically conceding the game.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Sort of. Confession: He's possibly my favorite sleeper name in the system, but even I wouldn't have him ranked higher than maybe just outside the Top 30 names. Before the draft, I might have T30'd him. Robbins is the prototypical example of a prospect that gets missed but stat line scouting. He shows very little HR power, doesn't show speed in stolen bases, and doesn't take walks. But here's what you don't see: --He leads the CAR in outfield assists and has a very good arm --He's got 60 or 65 grade speed (I've clocked him multiple times), but just isn't doing the base stealing thing yet --He's got very strong hands, and I've seen him flick a laser off the wall while in a poor hitting position with no leverage --He shows very good barrel control and plate coverage (this you can sort of see in his contact rate - K/PA around 15%, and in July it's just 7.5%) In other words, he's got a 60 or better arm, 60 or better speed, makes good contact despite being no threat to walk, and has substantial raw power that isn't yet game power. Here's where he hurts himself, and it's two-fold. For one thing, he does actually work counts, but once he gets to two strikes he wildly expands the zone. He's got good enough bat control and coverage to not strike out a ton, but he makes weak contact in those instances. Second, because he's expanding the zone so much, he sells out leverage (and therefore power) for coverage, so he doesn't allow himself to get into a good hitting position. Those things are fixable, which is why I don't consider him a non-prospect. If he changed his deep-count approach and kept himself back in a good hitting position, this is a legit MLB outfield prospect. But so far, he hasn't been able to do that. Thanks for taking the time to write this up, in depth stuff. He does seem to be getting more comfy at WS so hopefully he keeps improving his approach and more consistent with the bat.

Is Mason Robbins a legit OF prospect?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 07:01 AM) So, I guess it's time to sell lol If they're not gonna sell they should at least roll into the fetal position and cry until the season ends.

Navarro easily DFA candidate. He's been a mess back there

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) That was one of the easiest quote processes I've had. It's all there. We had some issues with sub flooring but timeline and money wise I feel like they have this process down. Kinda dumb question but did sub flooring factor in a lot into the quote? I figured what mattered most was square footage.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) I had a recommendation from my wifes parents (he did their floors) whom we met and liked. Our experience - - We refinished our floors and replaced a whole section of vinyl tile to match the wood throughout the rest of the first floor. He matched the stain perfectly and 1 year in nobody would be able to know we had a section added much later - He came in at quote, and his quote was competitive - Floors need to be the first thing you do, the amount of dust this creates should not be underestimated. We did the steps of floors first, skim coated our plaster walls second, painted third. Don't move your stuff in before your floors for obvious reasons beside dust. Overall though, this was one of my favorite projects we did and was worth every penny. ' Thanks for the response, I actually helped take the carpet off, sand, and stain the wood under the carpet in the living room of my parent's home so I completely understand your note about the dust because at that point we just covered everything up with plastic but it was an absolute mess of dust. The floor came out great but the cleaning was such a pain in the ass after that.

Does anybody have any experiences they can share with having a company or person come in and install hardwood flooring in their homes? I'm looking to purchasing a home that has mostly carpet throughout and I'm trying to gauge how much of a hassle financially and mentally something like this takes.
