  1. Come Monday, the Sox will have 3/5 of their rotation set for years. Rodon, Lopez, Gio.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 07:05 PM) When Jimenez and Gio leave MILB, we have to start saying Hansen is a top 5 prospect in the organization, right? He's damn close now IMO
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 07:00 PM) Hopefully Giolito just threw his last minor league pitch ever I think so. IIRC Hayes or another Sox reporter said something about a doubleheader coming up and needing another starter but that's a hunch (it's a good hunch we all know they're in the loop).
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) This kid is ridiculous I agree he's kind of a big deal lol
  5. Eloy doubled. Exit velo was 109
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) Well I'm sold. My point was it's much harder to kick in Chicago than TB. I'm not really saying it won't happen of course anything can happen. Kickers need confidence. Hopefully for the Bears' sake he gets it back and does well.
  7. Kopech, IF he dominates like Lopez and shows consistency at AAA, could be up next year but not until late July IMO. I say it's a stretch though.
  8. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) lol he's a tank reliever. Let him try and rebuild some value if possible. Bingo
  9. He can't kick in TB but he could in Chicago? No way. That kicker sucks
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) I think Bills did well today. They my Chiefs first next season as well as Rams 2, and Eagles 3. They have 2 1s, 2 2s, 2 3s. They're all set to get a QB next draft and add some weapons. Watkins is good but always injured. They were going to lose him anyways to FA.
  11. Trubisky looks solid guys. I can't wait for tomorrow to see my boy Mahomes. Glennon is terrible and still can't believe they're paying he and Sanchez.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) There is no reason as of yet to convert him. This is his first full season as a minor league starting pitcher. Realistically he shouldn't even be at AAA yet. He can be made a reliever at any time. He can't be made a starter at any time. Let him start, give him his reps, let him work on mechanics, release point, and mental approach. Agree completely with this. He just needs to rebound and I think he can. He can come out of the pen worst case scenario. I feel like due to his struggles and the load of new prospects, he's forgotten about. Sox rushed him and he clearly wasn't ready last season. I do think he can be nasty out of the pen and I envision him a late inning guy maybe setting up Burdi in a couple years.
  13. Nice start for Tanner Banks in Birmingham 6IP 4H 1R 6Ks 1BB Trey M with a night for himself. 3-3 2 doubles and an RBI Eloy is just fantastic. He WILL be the number 1 prospect with Kopech not far behind. I really feel like Eloy will be the best of all the Sox prospects (Hahn did really well with this first part of the rebuild).
  14. It's refreshing to see Adolfo healthy and turning it on this season. Hope he keeps it up! Awesome to see progress with Seby as well Gio is just about ready to come up it appears in the next week or two. I'm glad we're not dependent upon him being our ace. I think he'll be solid. This rotation is going to be nasty in a few years...Rodon, Lopez, Kopech, Giolito, Hansen....then the pen could be pretty damn good as well. Eloy is quickly becoming one of my favorite prospects. Holy s*** he is impressive and dominant. Good to see Casey swinging the bat in AAA. I'd think he'd be up in September for some ABs. I was stoked we got him as a return for Jennings. Overall, I've been following every night down on the farm and it's exciting. I'll definitely cherish this time because this is a first for me with all of these young stud prospects. I didn't get to see Kanny this season here in Charleston. Hope I get to next season.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 12:14 AM) I have a theory . Might not be a good one . I mean making some kind of adjustment is certainly more plausible . He always seems like a max effort type of guy . More of a thrower than a pitcher. Now with perhaps his arm not as strong he's becoming more of a pitcher knowing that he just can't throw it by guys. It would be interesting to look at his fastball stats from earlier in the year to now. Is he throwing as many ? Is it just as fast now as earlier in the season ? If he is throwing less fastballs what is taking it's place ? More change ups or another pitch? One night I'll do some research with Kopech, Syndergaard and Verlander. All guys who seem to be max effort throwers early on (JV in particular since I've seen a ton of him). That's who I think of when I watch and compare Kopech to other starters.
  16. Just off the top of my head but I only follow casually due to school so I box score for the most part Kopech, Stephens and Adams AAA Jimenez, Collins and Dunning AA Burger, Adolfo, Rutherford A-WS Robert A-Kanny
  17. Thank you 8 lb 6 oz baby Jesus! Studying for my nursing test tomorrow and saw this and had flashbacks of Avi being hurt the following year after we got him.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Rebuild is crap, I only see one top 25 guy going LOL
  19. lol he's a tank reliever. Let him try and rebuild some value if possible.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Wouldn't put it past them. If they really believe in Avisail Garcia, then it's not a bad thing. He's not a rental by any stretch. Exactly. I do think a package of Avi and Swarzak makes sense but not sure how much interest there is in Avi.
  21. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 10:06 AM) Also, if he's gonna be so bad he might as well be doing this year. Tanking is ugly boys. He was rushed. He's gona have growing pains. They all will.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) Not necessarily. If the issue is outside of baseball, the offseason may be a worse scenario. The structured requirements of in-season, especially travel may force him at times to forget about the issues. But once that structure goes away in the off-season he may loose an outlet for his frustration and be more immersed in the problem. Hopefully he is getting some professional help to face his adversity. Or he'll have the time he needs to cope. Alexei also had a down year when Minnie passed away IIRC.
  23. This stuff can absolutely affect players. Watched it last season in the NFL with a WR who's close friend died and he had issues. These guys are human. Just has to work through it and get to the off-season so he can get his mind in the right direction. Timmy will be fine. Sometimes you take a step back to take two steps forward.
  24. Collins has been good in July and hit his 14th HR
