QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) BBTN just had a segment about Sale and what it would take to get him. Boston - Said Bogaerts and Betts are totally off limits and that Moncada, Benentendi, Kopech, and Swihart was too much. Said Moncada, Kopech, Swihart, and Eduardo Rodriguez was a fair return for the White Sox. Rangers - Said Mazara, Gallo, Profar, and Dillon Tate was too much and that Mazara, Profar OR Gallo, Luis Ortiz, and Dillon Tate was a fair return. I don't think I'm good with either of the "fair" packages. Especially with some of the trades that have already happened in the past couple weeks. Three and a half years of a top 5 pitcher in baseball on an extremely team friendly deal is going to have to be an unprecedented package of talent in return and I'm not seeing that in the afore mentioned proposals. I just watched that video. It was just awful. Sale would get Moncada AND Benintendi. Then he ignored Devers which I know he's 19 but we lack 3B talent in the minors.

@ckamka James Shields runs allowed by start with White Sox: 7, 7, 8, 3, 1, 2, 2, 1, 2, 0

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Sadly - not enough this year even if it went down like that. 2017 would be looking nice thou. Which is scary when considering the prospect of this front office flipping a switch. Sell, sell, sell. Ya that's why I wasn't keen on KWs comments about the direction. I think that's this game of poker everyone's playing right now but I still have that doubt in the back of my mind considering the things that went on last season. I'm just ready for an overhaul and some younger fresh blood and a new farm system from the trades.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) Oh... And I'm sure the Reds will get a top prospect. That was solely satire.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) Keep losing Boston rotation. Not hard for them to do. That's why I think unless DD says f*** it and concedes and gives up Betts, which he won't, then they'll land Q because other national media members have said that they can simply outbid everyone.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) Part of them lingering around .500 is part of the problem. They've reached that level of mediocrity that teases you enough., but it's stupid to think they'll win 36-38 of the final 62, and possibly still need help. They should sell anyone if the right deal is available. 50-50 changes nothing. Hahn's comments a few days ago really made me believe they will. I think they've had a gut check, heart-to-heart kind of moment in upper management, that this rebuild while trying to contend nonsense is going nowhere and wasting the core. Mainly Sale, Q, Abreu, Eaton. You simply can't bargain shop with this team. Either completely rebuild or go all in and overspend. They'll rebuild IMO. Sale will likely stay because you can't give him away and f*** the deal up and set your organization back further than it already is.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) Right. There is no reason to trade Sale or Q for a fair package. You want them, pay up big time. With WSD, I heard Dan Hayes say a couple of times there was no way Boston was getting Sale without giving up Betts. I can see a Q trade at the deadline but not Sale. A team is going to have to give up a young controllable hitter (Betts) for Sale along with 4 top prospects. No team will do that midseason, if at all.
-
Agree that those are Quintana packages IMO. If Boston doesn't make a deal with us at the deadline, then I could see them going all out for Sale during the winter meetings. JBJ or Betts, Moncada, Benintendi and Kopech and a smaller A prospect.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) I wouldn't say fool's gold, pretty much everyone expected this to be a .500 team and that's what they are. I'm fine with not trading Quintana/Sale right now if the offers aren't there, but they need to take advantage of the price tag on relievers. I mean it in terms of a contender. They're what I thought they'd be minus the hot start and the awful stretch. They're a .500 team give or take a game. Max of 84 wins if everything goes right and the pen gets better and isn't stretched like Stretch Armstrong -
Red Sox could've really used one of our starters tonight. Tigers win 9-8.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) Time to stand pat at the deadline right? If they're not moving Q or Sale for large hauls or even shipping some hitters like Melky or Frazier, then yes. We don't have a great farm system nor are we in the division lead or WC lead. No quick fixes.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) There's this thing called heart you might want to check into. You won't find it on a stat sheet anywhere. There have been many many pitchers in the history of baseball who have got by on heart and guile changing speeds and locations and knowing hitters strengths and weakness. It is a science or art take your pick. . Results are the only thing that matter. Will you be happy when he gets lit up so you can say I told you so his peripherals predicted this ? I will take a 4 or 5 starter having a streak like he's on now any time over you proclaiming how lucky he is when he allows no runs to one of the best hitting teams in baseball. Talk to me when you've been around the game for 40 years and you know what you are talking about. That is, if you have learned anything about the art of pitching or the heart of champions. Heart and a nutsack. James has both and doesn't give a f***. This is the guy I thought we were getting all along. Not dominant every time out and not striking out 10 but being solid and the bulldog. Always loved the guy. Wanted to sign him back when he was a FA just not to a mega contract. -

This team is fool's gold. Sell sell sell. With that said its always great beating the worldly Cubs -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Unless the Sox win out to the deadline, I doubt this changes anything. Always nice to beat these guys though. This is all nice but I don't want some phony win streak. We don't have the farm system to go all in even if JR said f*** it.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) So is Chris Sale some kind of evil genius? His tirades are the real manager of this team
-
I joked about this in the winner thread so here we go: White Sox get: C Lucroy RP Will Smith Brewers get: Fulmer, Adams, 3B Trey M., and Jordan Stephens White Sox get: OF Jay Bruce and eat all of his salary Reds get: Jordan Guerrero, Courtney Hawkins White Sox get: RP Arodys Vizcaino Braves get: Engel, May, Danish JR and KW say f*** it and go for it! LOL had to after this Cubs win. Sox giving it one last run and deplete and already bare farm system just to piss off SoxTalk.

Per epsn, this is the first time CHC have been shutout since May 31
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) I know you're joking but they probably would but it would be stupid to give up what it would take for the chance, if they even have it. They don't have the farm IMO. I was kidding but that's about what they need in order to truly make a run. Agree?
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) I'm not conceding tomorrow's game yet. I know right? Crazy that Gonzalez and Shields have been carrying their weight late.

Add Lucroy, Bruce and then two relievers like Vizcaino and Rzep from the As and we're going to the playoffs!.....LOL I'm just kidding

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) That's what I was thinking, he's a replacement or throw-in. But we're probably just overthinking it. It is that time of year though
