  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) Cannot be any worse than what Paulino has been, this is beyond bad. Rienzo being bad would me a major improvement over Paulino, and he's at least got some upside.
  2. Leury Fu**** Garcia pitches better than Paulino. It's a slaughter every time he takes the mound. Time to cut bait. Get Rienzo up here.
  3. My TV started going in and out in the 9th inning due to the weather, but it cleared up for about 15 seconds...just enough to see Alexei blast that walk-off!
  4. I'm going to games on the 26th and 30th (survey tickets/discount) and several more throughout the summer, especially when my dad and brothers come up from Florida.
  5. If Paulino continues playing like this, who do we go with? Rienzo, Surkamp, Axelrod (not on the 40 but I believe there's an open spot), or even Leesman? I'd go with Rienzo. I'm fine with Nieto as the back up catcher. I want no part of Gimenez, and Phegley needs a lot of work on his defense. Downs has shown nothing so far. Boggs isn't an option either. Purcey, Guerra, Leesman could be options, I guess? Our bullpen is so weak. Leury Garcia is just a placeholder until Beckham/Keppinger return.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) But the team has been anything but s***ty outside a few loose ends. Yeah, we have our fair share of weaknesses and dead weight on the roster, but we're far from s***ty. At least far from how s***ty we were last season.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 11:29 AM) Keenyn Walker is just horrible. That guy may never get a cup of coffee despite his burners. Good to see the big four at W-S all playing well. Glad Barnum got off the schneid. Keenyn Walker and Jared Mitchell are two-sides of the same coin IMO. I have high hopes for Barnum, so hopefully he can get back on track.
  8. This really took the wind out of the early season excitement sails for me. But we got the W yesterday, so hopefully we can keep hovering around .500. I wouldn't be surprised if Danks forces De Aza to be the 4th OF in due time.
  9. I'd have to imagine we'd be lucky to get a bag of balls for Kepp.
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 11:12 PM) Keon Barnum with 3 walks. Nicely done. I'm hoping it was just the injuries that caused him to get off to a slow start with his professional career and he has a nice bounce back season this year now that he's apparently healthy.
  11. Wow, I'm pretty surprised. I guess that means Nieto is the second catcher barring a trade or signing. I guess it could be Gimenez, but I doubt it. He was on the opening day roster last year though IIRC. What's the logic in sending down Phegley before Gimenez?
  12. I see no point in keeping Zaleski and Pena Jr. in the organization any longer. That still leaves a ton of guys though.
  13. Here's a scale to use: 0 = never plays in the Bigs 1 = cup of coffee/outright bust 2 = useful role player or specialist for a couple years 3 = very useful bench/backup/utility/MR option 4 = borderline starting position player OR high quality setup man OR 5th starter, several seasons in the bigs 5 = average starting position player all around OR quality closer OR #4 type of starter, several seasons in the bigs 6 = above average starting position player all around OR dynamite closer OR #3 starter 7 = generally an All-Star level position player OR #2 type of starter 8 = perennial All-Star position player OR true ace SP 9 = HOF candidate Here are the names, no particular order: Jose Abreu-7 Keon Barnum-6 Rangel Ravelo-4 Marcus Semien-5 Micah Johnson-5 Carlos Sanchez-4 Leury Garcia-2 Clelius Rondon-2 Connor Gillaspie-4 Matt Davidson-6 Trey Michalscaweersdfski-0 Avisail Garcia-7 Dayan Viciedo-4 Adam Eaton-7 Jordan Danks-4 Jared Mitchell-1 Trayce Thompson-4 Keenyn Walker-0 Adam Engel-4 Jacob May-4 --- Chris Sale-8 Jose Quintana-7 Erik Johnson-6 Chris Beck-5 Scott Snodgress-5 Daniel Webb-5 Nate Jones-5 --- Courtney Hawkins-7 Tim Anderson-6 Andre Rienzo-4 Tyler Danish-4
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) New list of guys who seem like they should be pitching in AAA this year (no particular order)... Andre Rienzo Eric Surkamp (L) Charlie Leesman (L) Spencer Arroyo (L) Stephen McCray Jake Petricka Deunte Heath Brian Omogrosso David Purcey (L) Taylor Thompson Evan Crawford (L) Nestor Molina Matt Zaleski Scott Carroll Salvador Sanchez Ryan Kussmaul Dan Remenowsky Parker Frazier Tony Pena Jr Dylan Axelrod Frank De Los Santos (L) Terry Doyle Maikel Cleto*** Omar Poveda Mauricio Robles (L) That's two pitching staffs PLUS a couple more guys. I'm guessing you'll see a whole bunch of other trades, for cash or some other org need, between now and 3/31. *** = Out of Options Thanks for the run down. That's a ton of guys. I can't believe Zaleski is still around.
  15. The broadcast is much better today than it was the other day.
  16. QUOTE (sox2013 @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) McDade played every game I believe. I saw Bassitt pitch on Monday (he got the W), saw Omogrosso get W on Sunday. Frazier went in on Friday. Looks like Phipps, Robles and Smith didn't play. I'm pretty sure Smith played, but I don't think he got a PA. I could have sworn I saw him behind the plate the other day. McDade was pretty solid, Frazier stunk, and I missed Bassitt play.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) Adam Dunn's locker fter coming back from the Oscars had a red carpet leading to it , velvet ropes and cardboard cutout Oscar statues. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...arpet-adam-dunn Ha ha! That's hilarious!
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) Serious question... Does anyone around MLB have the type of speed that the White Sox have in their minor league system right now? They have some guys that sound like 70/80 speed. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 3, 2014 -> 11:09 PM) Hell, or the young power if we include Avi, Abreu, and Dayan. Barnum, Davidson, Hawkins, Thompson, Zapata. Lots of power in the system. We've still got a long way to go, but the farm system has certainly come a long way in a relatively short amount of time. Things are looking up.
  19. When I first glanced at the title I thought it was Jerry who had died. Then I saw son and thought it was Michael. Yikes... Condolences to the Reinsdorf family. Was he ill or was this sudden?
  20. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Mar 3, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) How's the team looking? Haven't seen any been working all day. Know Abreu isn't playing. Got off to a pretty good start. Wilkins hit a 3 run bomb but it's been pretty quiet since then. Sub-par pitching, namely Frazier.
