QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) A lot of teams play matchups with their DH now. It might be the better way to build a roster if you're lacking David Ortiz or Victor Martinez to just plant in the lineup and mash. Why are you so convinced Gillaspie is a .250 hitter? I think he's the same guy who said Davidson should have been the starting 3B all year despite flopping in AAA. I think he's just a huge Davidson fan, therefore he dislikes Gillaspie.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 11:29 PM) Have you listened to the games? Dudes allergies have really hit him hard. Probably shouldn't have even showed up to begin with. I've been dealing with the same and they're the worst! That's the thing though. I can excuse him for doing it last night. He gave it a go but his allergies got the best of him so he left early. That's fine. But if he was feeling the same way today than they should have had Wimpy or someone on standby. Like you said, Hawk shouldn't have showed up to begin with. But he did. And he left early. Again. I like Steve Stone and think he does a good job for the most part (especially having to work with Hawk), but he's pretty brutal solo and Hawk left him holding the bag two nights and a row.

Second game in a row where Hawk said "Aww, f*** it!" and packed it up early. Very unprofessional. It's almost impossible to defend the guy anymore.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 11:47 PM) I don't understand why people are surprised Mitchell wasn't called up. What did he do to deserve a call up? His numbers sure don't justify a call up. Can anyone explain this please? He did well during his second stint in Charlotte this season.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!

Flowers is the greatest catcher of all-time. Too bad he'll be left out of the hall once word of his PEG use gets out. Performance enhancing glasses. Viciedo is such a tease. How about Sanchez? A lot of you guys are ready to hand the job to Semien or Johnson and write off Sanchez as trade bait, but I like what I see out of the kid. Let those three battle it out for the job in ST then decide who to trade. -

2014 Minor League catch all thread

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) If anyone noticed, it looks like RHP Storm Throne has been released. He is not on any White Sox minor league roster. Apparently he retired. He's still an all-name first ballot hall of famer. -
How about Recchia's line tonight: Recchia 7 IP, 0 R, 2 K, 3 BB, 4 H

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Adam Eaton over his last 18 games: .449/.480/.580 True leadoff man. If only he can stay healthy.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:50 PM) I really hope they turn the page and go with a new catcher next year. I think Nieto may be the future at C, but he should probably spend most of next season in Charlotte. The FA options are thin; might as well go with Phegley an Gonzalez 'till Nieto is ready or someone becomes available.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) Give Carroll's innings to someone else the rest of the way to see if there are any other contributors for the future. I think we know what Carroll can do. Bassitt.
-
Boy, talk about a big inning...
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:33 PM) Stone still thinks he will spend September in the bullpen. He hasn't gone more than 4 innings as a pro up to this point, so bullpen seems likely for September.
-
C'mon Jose... two blunders in one inning...
-
Ah, hell. Carroll's like a ticking time-bomb. You know he's gonna blow up sooner or later.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) For a guy who said I am always wrong, answering Chicago IL when asked what country you are from is pretty funny. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) Not a country. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) Illinois retards

Chris Bassitt to debut Saturday vs Tigers
Señor Ding-Dong replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) If he pitches well, this probably punches the ticket for Rienzo and Carroll next season. That'd be something, to get that righthanded power arm balance for the rotation without the Sox diving into the deep end of the free agent market. If you'd like to congratulate him, do so here: https://twitter.com/C_Bass419 Punch their ticket to where? Charlotte? Both Rienzo and Carroll have had stretches of good performance in the past. It'd be nice to not have to rely on them in the rotation, but I'm sure they'll spend next season shuffling between Charlotte and Chicago in a bullpen and spot start role. -

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) Which takes him out of the AFL correct?? Maybe they give him the extra time he'd get in the AFL at the big league level. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him get ~5 starts at the major league level....Again, Q only had 8 or 9 starts at AA, so it could happen if he looks good. Jared Mitchell and Marcus Semien played in the AFL last year, and I'm pretty sure both of those guys were on the 40. Regardless, Bassitt will get this start then likely a handful in September as well.
