  1. what is really going to be stupid if Manuel ends up using two or three more guys out of the bullpen in a 7-3 game He can either use up Wunsch, Sully and Marte or wave the white flag and throw Adkins out there
  2. cleveland up 4-2 maroth shutting out Royals, 3-0 and we're pissing it away, unable to throw a ball over the plate. amazing
  3. just crash and burn the entire bullpen out tonight
  4. nine walks and not through the five inning could have used Ginter, Rauch, Kohlmeier, somebody this ain't workin
  5. mlb.com has the Indians ahead of the Twinkies, 3-2
  6. mlb.com reports the Indians have taken a 3-2 lead sox need to rally SOON
  7. need something here maggs
  8. i don't think it's unrealistic to believe that Cleveland can win two of four at home against the Twinkies, especially since Radke and perhaps Santana won't pitch in this series. it's up to the Sox to hunker down and win 2 against Suppan, Wakefield and Burkett, which ain't exactly the same as hitting against Mulder, Zito and Hudson. We've all said this a million times -- but tonight's game is the biggest of the season.
  9. reason for optimism: For each game in the Boston series, the Sox scheduled starter has a lower ERA than Boston's scheduled starter. including tonight with Wright vs. Suppan.
  10. Rooney and Farmer said on the radio today said if there is a tie with Minny or KC the Sox would play either one on the road. didn't lose one coin flip lost two. and two games to the Twinkies
  11. Sure. Eight losses to the Tigers == D-E-A-D
  12. Did anybody else notice the Twinkies did not hit a single home run the entire series? Does anybody wonder if anybody on the Sox got that message?
  13. i believe the Sox are facing Suppan, Wakefield and Burkett this weekend maybe the bats will come back to life. They'd better.
  14. Cleveland just beat the Royals two out of three in KC. could have won the third. they got some hitters. They got above average pitching. They got young guys anxious to prove something. They're certainly capable. Maybe the Twinkies will let down a bit after beating the Sox. (Dream on.) They have to help us some.
  15. if the Sox win Friday night and the Twinkies lose in Cleveland, the mood will shift again. Still a ton of baseball to be played. Minny definitely has the upper hand. But it ain't impossible. by my count Cleveland has won 8 of 13 against Minny this season with Radke and perhaps Santana not pitching, the Tribe can take two games from the Twins. I think Wedge is getting into this role of spoiler, telling his young players it's their first taste of pressure baseball. As for the Tigers, don't look to me for any reasons they can handle Minnesota. ANYTHING we get out of them will be a bonus.
  16. Cleveland is certainly capable of playing the Twins tough. And they play Minnesota seven times. But it will take a miracle for Detroit to beat Minnesota more than two times in seven games. That is the problem -- and I'm not confident the Tigers can even beat them twice. Or once.
  17. I'll try REmember that the Sox have won 2 out of three on the road at Dodger Stadium, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium and the Twinkiedome. They swept KC in Kaufman. They can win two out of three in Fenway, especially since Pedro ain't starting any of the games. The starters have to deliver. And we got to get some long balls off guys like Suppan and Burkett. This team has never done ANYTHING easy or correctly all year. It follows the pattern that they had to make the last 17 games as tough as possible. How's that?
  18. I like your plan and your attention to detial. One minor point: I believe the Twins are leading toward starting Eric Milton Sunday in Cleveland. He's pitched in Double-A and rejoined the team in Chicago this week. I assume that means they will use either Pulido or Reed on Monday. That way Gardenhire can go for the KO in the Twinkiedome with Santana and Radke. Just a hunch, but I expect that to happen. JM ain't managing the Twinkies. And one final point: If the division is lost, the Number One thing to point back at will ALWAYS be the Eight losses to the Tigers. No matter how you explain it, it's just not something a good team allows to happen.
  19. Twins looking awfully cocky maybe they'll assume they have already got it won
  20. hey, it's better than totally rolling over
  21. To: Jody Gerut, Casey Blake, Cliff Lee, Dennys Baez From: the White Sox RE: Please help. We need all we can get.
  22. let's hope for better days in Boston -- OR ELSE
  23. offense has been so lame that TV just gave Loaiza the hardest-working player of the game award
  24. Radke going for the complete-game dagger that would really be a statement.
