  1. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) I propose Jordan Guerrero for Colby Rasmus. He can't be traded until June due to accepting the QO.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 08:20 AM) As others stated, the Mets are also clearly the best rotation in baseball. Harvey/DeGrom/Syndergaard/Matz/Colon or Niese... nobody else can come close to that. They traded Niese for Neil Walker. But they have Wheeler coming back at some point which is another young exciting arm better than Niese so your point still stands.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 08:05 AM) This, especially if Fulmer replaces Danks at some point in the near future. As excited as I am to see him in our rotation, I want him in the minors for 16 (MAYBE a bullpen stint in September if we need an extra arm for a playoff push).
  4. I'm so torn. It's supposedly a deep draft this season (no, they don't say that every year) but he's there for the taking. I know a lot of people are against one year deals for QO guys but next offseason may be the last one where we can recoup it (CBA expires this year but doubt the handling of compensation changes next offseason; probably goes into effect 17-18 offseason).
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) When Cespedes inevitably opts out and becomes a free agent next offseason, can we keep the discussion in this thread as well? It would be awesome if we could get this thread to 10,000 posts or more. #signcespedes2017
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) I am all for having 42 and 21 displayed in all parks, but do the numbers really have to be retired? Let the individual teams do that. Wouldn't it make more of an impact on the legacy of Jackie Robinson if a player wore 42 in his honor, and a broadcaster mentioned it rather than having no one wear it except everyone wear it one day a year? Agree. I don't think they need to be retired either. I like the displayed idea though.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 02:48 AM) does anyone know when is the deadline for int't players counting for next season int'l salary cap and / or this season cap??? They would be unrestricted free agents so there is no cap on them. You're thinking of the amateur spending.
  8. I know the CBA expires at the end of this year but wouldn't the old rules still apply through next offseason? I feel like any agreement dealing with free agent compensation would go into effect after the 2017 season.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/664490052261535744 A couple exhibitions in San Diego to end it. Good to see they're staying out west before playing in Oakland, and not going to an affiliate. I know a lot of people were complaining about opening up in Oakland to start the year but I actually like opening up out West coming off of Spring Training. And we can get that ugly stadium of the way ASAP haha
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 11:52 AM) Here's my plan. - Trade Avi and Tyler Danish for Carlos Gomez - Sign Ian Desmond to a 3 year/$45 million deal Lineup: 1. Adam Eaton (RF) 2. Carlos Gomez (CF) 3. Jose Abreu (1B) 4. Todd Frazier (3B) 5. Melky Cabrera (LF) 6. Ian Desmond (SS) 7. Adam LaRoche (DH) 8. Brett Lawrie (2B) 9. Alex Avila/Dioner Navarro © Thoughts? That lineup seems pretty well rounded from top to bottom IMO. Yeah idk why Houston would want Garcia.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) I have seen so many trade proposals which include Tim Anderson, yet the pick the Sox got for Shark is sacred to many. Is it now fair to say that holding on to him wasn't so dumb after all? Agree I'd rather keep the more the more polished prospect than the future prospect that is a draft pick if we have to choose between one or the other.
  12. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Can we stop acting like because we missed out on the Big 3 that all of Hahn's plans fail to come to fruition? He targeted Lawrie and Frazier and got those done. What was he supposed to do here? There was no way we were going to pry away Gordon or Cespedes unless we grossly overpaid, and Upton didn't want to come here. Agree. Still options out there to upgrade at either SS or outfield through trade or free agency.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) Who knows, if Cuddyer doesn't retire, the Mets don't go this high, maybe he winds up with the White Sox. Exactly. Then they'd just have a $13 mill bench player in Cuddyer (maybe platoon at most with their 1B who's name escapes me) with likely no other upgrades. Plus they also gave up something of value for Cespedes in July so this makes it look better than a 2-3 month rental for them. They could also get a draft pick for him when/if he leaves.
  14. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Am I crazy for thinking they should kick the tires on Lincecum? Of course only if his workout next month goes well, and only if he won't cost a fortune. *waits for backlash* Hey if his showcase goes well, I wouldn't mind a minor league deal with an opt out the last day of Spring Training. Of course if he makes the team he'd get a few mill. Some kind of deal like that.
  15. That deal really only makes sense for the Mets in my opinion. Mets should really thank Cuddyer for this.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Not sure fowler + Desmond is a real possibility. Surrendering your draft for two marginal players is ill advised. I was just tossing it out there since someone suggested it and it was fun putting that together. Realistically it would be Desmond and Jackson.
  17. If they got Fowler and Desmond, what would be the lineup? 1. Eaton CF 2. Fowler RF/LF 3. Abreu 1B/DH 4. Frazier 3B 5. Desmond SS 6. Cabrera LF/RF 7. Lawrie 2B 8. LaRoche/Garcia DH/1B/RF 9. Catching platoon
  18. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 08:43 AM) I assume Hahn has some kind of plan here. I mean, I would hope so. I'm sure we will see something come together within next few days.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) Bruce Levine said this morning that the White Sox were in it until the $$ got crazy. He said they were never making Cespedes one of the highest paid OF's in the game. He said that expects something else because they need to finish the job. He's speculating about Colorado but that doesn't really make sense either. Yeah I don't want to give up anything of value for Blackmon or Dickerson. Idk I guess it depends.
  20. QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) So, I shut down the computer about 9 last night and am just opening it up now. Disappointed yes but, I hope there is not more disappointment to come. Hopefully the acquisitions of both Lawrie and Frazier do not go to waste. OK White Sox what now?? Guessing it's either SS Saladino OF Fowler Or SS Desmond OF Jackson/Garcia
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) I'm glad the Sox didn't offer that. Basically if he's awesome next year you lose him after one year but if he sucks next year your stuck with an expensive contract for two more years. If he opts out, they can recoup with a QO.
  22. I want Jackson. Would hold my excitement on Desmond until I saw the contract.
  23. Let's hope we hear about some interest from the Sox standpoint.
  24. I'd call and ask about Granderson first though I don't think they'll move anyone. Conforto orbGranderson could sit against lefties and Lagares can get into the lineup as well as other games he can double switch and come in as a defensive sub in.
  25. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:15 PM) What is Desmond going to cost? Realistically? He turned DOWN a $107M offer already... But let's here the thoughts. This oughtta be interesting. No one's really been linked to him. If he wants to take a one year deal I'd offer 1/15.8 (value of the QO).
