QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) raBBit on twitter just now says Fowler has moved into most likely, with Cespedes and Upton now being more difficult possibilities. Seems to really dismiss Upton now. I wonder is that is just his opinion or confirmed from his inside source.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Again, who are the teams that are going to jump in? I see a lot of posters claiming more teams will jump in, but few are offering suggestions about which teams actually would. I think it's an overblown fear. Toronto and St. Louis are the only ones I can think of. I still think we end up with Cespedes or Upton though.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Marlins might only have to pay Chen 20 million for 2 years....great deal Yeah and may be able to turn him into a draft pick if he opts out.
-
Imagine if they traded for one of the cheaper ones (Blackmon or Dickerson) and then signed Davis. Wow.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) Even if Bassitt makes your rotation, he is a guy you are instantly looking to replace. It is like Conor at 3B. Yeah he was a "starter" but we all know he is a bottom tier guy. Exactly. And as I mentioned in another thread (maybe this one can't remember) Oakland added enough depth this offseason to the point where he likely isn't starting for them.

Orioles would like minor league deal with Gavin Floyd
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wouldn't mind him on a minor league deal for depth either I guess. -
With all the pitching depth Oakland added this off-season, I doubt they look at Bassitt as a major contributor this season.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) You have to put the Dodgers as #1. Damn. Yep. Fully expect him to be a Dodger, maybe a Cub.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) Does this mean we won't be seeing an Avi Garcia trade? I heard that Everett will be giving a biblical lecture about dinosaurs. Not necessarily. He's on the roster as of now so why wouldn't he be going?

This thread will get to 175 pages by the time Cespedes or Upton signs with anyone. Almost debating putting Desmond and Davis into this list as well.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) This would be the worst news of all. I kinda think if they decide to sign Raburn, he'd be part of a platoon in LF possibly taking them out of Cespedes.

Connor McKnight named the new Pre/Post Host for White Sox
Bob Sacamano replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) Hated that channel. Any radio station that features Kaplan and Haugh as their superstars is garbage in my book Never really caught the morning show (they were on from 9-12 I believe) but I loved the afternoon guys. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) Iirc he won the Score contest to be an on air talent. He also jumped to the Game which was an unfortunate decision I LOVED The Game. Was so sad when it went off the air. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) Connor McKnight will be the host of Pre and Post and White Sox weekly on WLS for the White Sox. I like the hire. Connor is young and really knows baseball. He's very interactive with the fans and should be a welcome addition. http://www.robertfeder.com/2016/01/11/robs...n-deck-for-wls/ Anyone > Chris Rongey -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) On the other hand, it's too early to say anyone has really been hurt until they actually sign. It just takes one team to crack...for the rest of the dominoes to quickly fall. Yeah I didn't mean to say that. Meant that being the reason they're still unsigned.
-
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 07:12 AM) Both Cespedes and Upton have yet to be signed by anybody. Yet somebody like Shark signed with the Giants for some serious money. (I'm so glad he's not on the 2016 White Sox) Both of these guys are considered major talents but still nobody has signed them. Is there some reason why nobody has signed these guys? Are they trouble makers? It doesn't make any sense to me. I would love to have either of them on the White Sox. Having one of them would make the White Sox serious 2016 Playoff contenders. I'm hoping that something can be worked out between one of them and the White Sox. Because everyone who spent this off season spent on pitching. And Yankees were not involved with anyone. And a lot of teams close enough to luxury tax to point where they were not interested. Just a deep free agent class is why these guys remain unsigned.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) It was actually in a DM from a user on there. Like I said, that's probably not the reason why nothing is happening, but it's an interesting point that I hadn't thought about before. It would be a very stupid reason to hold off. If they wanted it to have any connection to Soxfest, they'd get it done ASAP and get more interest and excitement going into the team making people want to be at Soxfest.
-
Doubt they'd wait that long. If anything they'd want to announce it before to get more people excited and wanting to go to Soxfest.
-
I believe the Red Sox had interest in him as well and had Abreu waited about a month or so, I think he would have ended up there (they were in the post season when Abreu signed so signing him really wasn't an option).

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) I think the agents of Cespedes and Upton need to keep in mind that there are more sellers than buyers so if they want to play games, let em. Plenty of alternatives to choose from on the trade market which is why those two players have yet to receive the offer they are looking for. In the end, Cespedes and Upton just might have to settle for a 3 or 4 year deal. The FA outfielders have such little bargaining power its amusing to me. Heyward and Gordon were smart for taking the deals they got. Or even a 1-year deal. Upton can take one and then become a free agent at 29 in a weak class.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) I'm curious if lowball means number of years, AAV or both. I'm going to guess both.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 09:16 AM) Parra or bringing back Jackson would make sense for them. Or even Dexter Fowler to play LF.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) I'm going to go with.. Davis to the Jays Upton to Baltimore Cespedes to the White Sox I'm ok with anything that lands us Upton or Cespedes
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) If they do, they'll be scrambling at the deadline for starting pitchers and giving up prospects for relying on guys like Dickey, Hutchison, 1 good year Estrada, and fricken J.A Happ lol. That rotation is worse than it was last years end. In your opinion, who should they go out and spend the money on? I wouldn't spend on Gallardo personally and I think Chen is going to sign somewhere else. They could probably get a bat and a cheaper arm as well for depth, especially by back loading an OF deal.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:09 PM) Could be posturing. Seriously, it's not THAT farfetched for them to be in on one of these outfielders. Exactly. Dickey, Bautista and Encarnacion being free agents would allow them to backload a deal. The free agent class is also terrible next off-season. Not really a crazy idea.
