**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) Reed has done OK this postseason. The real winners of the Reed/Davidson trade: the Mets

What if the Sox had ...
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) All you guys make Charlie Brown seem like an optimist. For those saying we still would 've sucked , want to take a stab at how many more good position players , relievers, starting pitching it would take to be around 10 games over .500 ? Agree. We would have been better with him. Around the deadline, look at our record. With Morales, we likely have more wins and are ahead of a few more teams and we go out and they go ahead and bring someone in at the deadline. Who really knows what would have happened.

Ian Desmond: Perfect Buy Low Candidate?
QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) Anyone think Tim Anderson is basically Dee Gordon with a little more pop and a little less speed? We wouldn't mind that at all especially if he can handle short.

Ian Desmond: Perfect Buy Low Candidate?
QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) By all accounts, Desmond had an atrocious season last year for a guy coming off 3 straight 4+ win seasons. He failed to reach the 20/20 club for the first time since 2011 and was a butcher with the glove. I still think the Nationals might offer a QO to him, but does anybody think he is one of the best bounce back candidates of this FA class? His second half line bounced back quite a bit to the tune of .262/.331/.446 which is above average production from the SS spot. There is a great deal of risk involved in a long term contract with him, but if he could be had for $14-15 MM a year over 4 years, I think it's something the Sox should contemplate. That would give you the ability to slide Anderson to 2nd or move Desmond to DH if his glove continues to slide. Or even slide him to third if we still have no one there.

MLB trade rumors mentioned Sox at potential destination for Wieters
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 06:46 AM) Austin Hedges? Yeah an article I read yesterday about the Pad Padres off-season mentioned that anyway.

MLB trade rumors mentioned Sox at potential destination for Wieters
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 02:28 AM) I like Derek Norris but why would San Diego trade him? They have locked up for another four years and catchers are hard to come by. Preller is going to try and compete again and moving Norris would only make that more difficult. They have another MLB ready catcher who they may be willing to let play and could savea little money and add some prospects moving Norris.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 11:43 PM) Olt is a young 27. Are we all OK with letting him start next year and see what we've got? Remember, Gillaspie was a starter for the Sox for a year and change ... Is it Olt time considering those 2 mammoth blasts he hit last September? No

MLB trade rumors mentioned Sox at potential destination for Wieters
QUOTE (Soxfan90 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 09:18 PM) Huh? Donaldson was already traded to the Jays when we did the Shark trade. The Sox started discussing a deal for Shark prior to the Donaldson deal at the November gm meetings (not winter ones).

What does everyone think it'll take to get Norris? Please no Erik Johnson and Carlos Sanchez trade suggestions.

Justin Morneau or another year of LaRoche
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) It doesn't make sense because we have to be building towards 2017-2019. Giving those at-bats to a Morneau over someone like Avi, Olt, Davidson (or even Cabrera, with a younger player playing LF/RF) makes little or no sense because we're just wasting those opportunities when they could benefit a "prospect/suspect" who actually could be a part of the future of the organization. Now you can certainly make the argument ALL of those guys might have no future, or even Trayce Thompson, but that's a different argument. If you at least believe they have a "reasonable" chance to succeed, then you have to go with the younger players. Problem is we don't have anyone in the upper minors knocking on the door who deserve those at bats.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) I'm guessing they wanna play Rosario at 1B. Wouldn't mind Morneau if they dump Laroche. Oh yeah forgot about Rosario. Only chance we have is if they think he can't handle the defense over there.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Rockies bought out Morneau's option. Do they have any bad contracts where a 1-for-1 swap makes sense for LaRoche (not CarGo)?

White Sox claim Jacob Turner from Cubs
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) The next few years will be interesting. The teams that loaded up internationally are going to start hitting those 40 man roster crunches. The Dodgers are going to be a big one in addition the couple of teams you listed. There will be chances at the next Jose Quintana out there. Very good points.

White Sox claim Jacob Turner from Cubs
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) The roster is at 38. Albers, Samardzija, Soto, and Beckham going to free agency will bring it to 34 and outfighting someone like Carroll could bring it to 33. How many guys need protecting for Rule 5? Great question. I'm sure someone here knows.
-
Mark Buehrle to retire?
Maybe see if he's open to being a lefty reliever. If not, we don't really need him barring a trade.

White Sox claim Jacob Turner from Cubs
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) Nobody's complaining, but I find it kind of surprising someone with his lack of success and injury history would be worthy of a spot on the 40-man roster. He's not guaranteed a spot. They claimed him not having 40 guys and guys will be free agents in a few weeks. Depending on what moves we make, he can be dfa'd again.

My/Your Off Season Plan
What would the Nats do with LaRoche? They have Zimmerman at first who can't really play any other positions anymore.

White Sox mentioned as potential landing spot for Upton
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) I just think this would be a disaster. An awful signing and bad strategy. I'd prefer we do nothing for 1 more year than this. Agree. And this is only speculation anyway. Just some guy looking at teams that need help at position and then sticking a name on them. Nothing to see here people.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) I'd rather lose with some dignity and more money available for next offseason than go through another offseason of singing second tier FAs.....only to lose a little less. Maybe with Asdrubal Cabrera and Freese we'll have 81 wins. While many may claim that's successful it doesn't prove to me we're in any better position to compete come 2017 or beyond. We need impact bats, players with the ability to get on base and threaten to hit 30+ HRs. If it means unload Quintana, Sale, or any of the names above so be it. Tired of signing these replacement level bums. And yes, I'd rather lose and sign no one, collect a Top Ten draft pic, then come 2017 use available money to sign a legitimate FA.... than look at second and third tier options. We'll also have a better idea of the future of Anderson, Fulmer, Montas I don't know if you've seen the free agent list for 2016-2017 offseason, but it isn't pretty.

2016 MLB Draft
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) I foresee the Sox going strong after pitching as I think they are going to clean out some of their upper level depth to get a bat or two to supplement the ML roster. I agree. Example: Sox get young MLB bats (or an mlb bat and position player prospects close to mlb) for Quintana. Go on to draft pitching with first 3 picks.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) Sooner or later, if the franchise doesnt want to completely lose the fanbase, they are either going to need to completely rebuild or go after higher priced FAs. It cant be neither. I completely agree, but this is Jerry we're talking about. Keep expecting patchwork teams.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Mlbtr had a breakdown of every team and the biggest contract they have given out in their history. Biggest Sox contract? 6/68 to Jose Abreu. They aren't going to sign Heyward, Upton, or Cespedes guys.

Cubs-Mets (Better Team) NLCS
QUOTE (Baron @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) So much money in that rotation Yeah. But they'll be able to afford it.

Cubs-Mets (Better Team) NLCS
My Cubs offseason prediction: talks heat up for Tyson Ross, they trade for him and also sign Price. Boast a rotation of: Price Arrieta Lester Ross Hendricks Edit: I guess Hendricks could be part of the deal in which case it is Hammel.
