Hill is just a defensive first, 26th man, backup CF. I have no problem with him being here for now. Heck, he may not even make it to Spring Training. Not worth the energy even talking about.

My comment isn’t that deep. He’s a guy who struggles to go 5 often. Worth 1.1 WAR last year. Not a guy I would be that excited to spend $30M/year for 7 years on. Maybe if it was high AAV short term deal.

I don’t think anyone they traded for Peavy even did anything. This was the point of my post. Outside of a couple decent seasons from Kip Wells post-trade, neither did those guys really (Ritchie deal).

I liked his aggressiveness. And there weren’t many trades where it seemed like they lost. Except maybe Gio Gonzalez and Chris Young.
