Yeah, that kind of makes it bs that Murakami wouldn't count as a prospect, netting the Sox another draft pick if he were to win the RoY (if that still will apply after CBA negotiations). I know he played in Japan but so did Sasaki, who made it onto lists as the number 1 prospect last year.

I’m seeing that it’s a mutual option if he doesn’t pitch 40 innings. If he pitches over 40, the deal for 27 is guaranteed. Am I reading the correct details? Still doesn’t seem like a lot of money to be considered a dump or a difference in package.

He’s not really making a ton though where it would be considered a salary dump. Taking on the full remainder salary around now/trade deadline would be like 33% of $13M.

Yep. Go with Quero and Romo (or DFA him and give Turner a shot) and hit them 8th (I would say 9th but I like the idea of a 2nd leadoff hitter in the 9 spot when the lineup flips)
