There’s other factors that go into this. You think a guy who is in his mid/upper-20s with not a lot of MLB experience is going to sign somewhere to compete to be a bench player or sign with a rebuilding team that can play him every day?

Yeah it makes sense for the Astros, who didn’t have a 1B. I blame the front office for creating a logjam of 1B/DHs and Jerry for unwillingness to spend like a big market team in the middle of a competitive window.
