Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Definitely agree on throwing the money at a pitching upgrade.

If he signs with the Twins, there is no reason they shouldn't throw the rest of the money supposedly left in the budget towards Tanaka.

15 jobs didn't open up so I would think so.

That looks better than the guys that say they have no idea how it got in their bodies or didn't know it was in another substance they were taking ha.

Eh, the excuses are always pathetic.

Adam Ottavino traded to Red Sox
Yankees shed $8 mill in salary, $9 mill luxury tax hit. I assume they will re-sign Gardner now.

Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
I guess maybe if he's hurt a lot. If Kluber is healthy, I do agree he will blow Keuchel away (I expect him to regess hard).

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
I feel like any trade the Yankees most over the past 5 years or so turns out great for them.

Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
This means we probably sign someone who isn't doing well then. The current options are making it seem like this is likely (barring trade).

Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
Yeah that was good for him. I would have taken him for about half.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
This. They need the help in the rotation.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
I just threw up in my mouth. This would be a gross signing.

Vet catcher and relief project together probably doesn't even cost you over $2/3 mill.

I feel the same. Blow the remaining $15 mill budget (if true) on Tanaka. Offer a one year deal with a second year option and buyout. Roll with the combo of Collins, Mercedes, Garcia, Engel in the extra spot in the order and play by matchup until Vaughn is ready.

How is he defensively? I would have liked him if he is good defensely. Not the end of the world though.

At this point, we know the Machado stuff is legit. Dude was going to sign here until Padres came in a couple days before they signed him. So I don't really fault him there.

Touché, Hector. Touché.

Where did this $15 mill left on the budget idea come from exactly?

Cruz Archer IMO.

the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Good. I hope they stick to their guns. Just sign a free agent instead and hope Cease and/or Kopech take some huge steps.

Exactly. Too many guys throwing the ball well is a good problem to have. Kopech will find his spots (injuries, called up to start a double header game, etc).

DH, yes. 1B no. There would be a difference in signing someone who would be the starting 1B instead of "old DH who can play 1B" (LaRoche, Alonso (bad signing all around), etc.).

I'm good with taking a chance on him too. Leaning more towards options like this than trading away 3-5 prospects right now.

There's also always a lot of options in free agency every year that you could easily fill 1B with. It's definitely the least concerning position to have a hole at.

Taijuan Walker please.
