The Astros have plenty of guys that can use those at bats. The Astros have so much depth and versatility to the point where they can give a guy a break at the DH spot. I'm sure the injury-proned Brantley will see some time there.

I think he's likely to stay based on the reasons you listed. Former top pick, multiple years of control, didn't have a good year (low value), beginning of the rebuild, space in the rotation, etc. Those are the type of guys rebuilding teams gamble on. Now if he was on a good team and the team was trying to improve over him, that's when you would be able to get him.

I'm good with Jones being brought in as a "leader" type guy off the bench to platoon with Palka in RF (Palka would get a big chunk of the PT being a lefty). You would just need a guy like Leury on the bench who can cover CF. Of course, that assumes no upgrade in CF nor a Harper signing.
