  1. He could be like how the Cubs planned on using Schwarber that one season (the year he got hurt): 3rd catcher, gets playing time at another position (1B) but in this case, he can also DH.
  2. Yeah considering there is only one MLB catcher in the organization. They do need one going forward for 2019.
  3. Yeah I read an article yesterday (Ken Rosenthal maybe?) where he said the team could have just signed a closer using the money they just took on in the Cano deal, avoided the aging Cano contract and played McNeil at 2B, and held onto their prospects.
  4. He was also dealt with Span who was a salary dump.
  5. Agreed. I've been saying for about a year that the Phillies are going to sign one of these guys. It seems very likely that they will.
  6. Yes. So far, the only confirmed pieces are Segura, Crawford and Santana. I would assume there would be some more prospects involved.
  7. They already had enough payroll space anyway.
  8. Yeah I agree that they should have waited on Diaz. And it looks like the M's are going to botch the Segurs deal too.
  9. Not necessarily. Bad contract swap or a straight salary dump where the team basically gets him for free.
  10. Seager + Smith seems more realistic for sure.
  11. Definitely more than one good prospect. That Seager deal is no where near as bad as the Cano deal.
  12. They'd have to pay more than what the Mets did for Cano and Diaz. Personally don't see Haniger moved with him. Seager as a straight salary dump I could see.
  13. Tim Beckham may be someone worth checking out. 2 years of control and had a nice 2017. A nice option for 3B.
  14. If they miss out on Machado (pretty likely) and any other potential targets they have in mind, I wouldn't mind seeing if he wants to play 3B.
  15. Both have 3 years. If you're using Baseball Reference, guys who are free agents this current off-season are listed as 2019. Syndergaard is listed as 2022 meaning 21 is his last year of control.
  16. Why wouldn't the Brewers and Indians just cut the Mets out and deal Kluber to the Brewers in that case?
  17. Weird comment. Not all those top 50 players will sign for anywhere near $68m.
  18. Right. Dee Gordon wasn't good in the OF, Cano wouldn't have been post-season eligible if they made it so it was perfect for Gordon to slide back to 2B. And they needed help at 1B so Cano shifting there made sense.
  19. Platoon them and then you have a great defensive 4th OF on the bench every game.
  20. He's really just a platoon DH.
