  1. I wouldn't predict the Red Sox at all for a 1B. Right now, they likely have the only other All-Star game worthy 1B in the AL.
  2. Might as well play Palka in LF. I know I know...lefty lefty matchup. But this is a rebuild year and you might as well see if he can hold his own against lefties (currently 7-20 on the year; .350 avg, .435 OBP and 2 bombs; yes small sample size but still). Edit: oops I saw the lineup without looking at who was pitching in the first post and assumed a lefty was on the mound. My bad. But my point still stands lol
  3. And drafting Madrigal now doesn't prevent them from acquiring or signing a third basemen with power in "the next year or two." If they drafted someone who fit that profile, you're talking about that player coming up within the next 2-3 years anyway most likely.
  4. Exactly. As someone else said during the draft, what do teams like the Cubs, Astros, Yankees, Dodgers do when they have a glut of the same positions? They find another spot for them. Honestly, some guys are talented and skilled enough to play other positions and pick up on them quick. Edit: also, if we don't have a primary DH in a few years, that could be used to rotate and keep guys fresh on a game-by-game basis.
  5. Yeah, you don't have to hit 20-30+ homers to be considered a good hitter. Also, he ball being juiced at the MLB level makes me unconcerned about smaller guys hitting homers. He could definitely end up hitting anywhere between 10-20 homers and I wouldn't be shocked. Tim Anderson is on pace to hit over 30 for Christ sake.
  6. He doesn't have to be up right when they are competitive again, which is what you are implying. He will be up when he is ready and that could theoretically be 3-4 years (not saying it will or that I think it will). Teams still want a nice flow of talent through the system even when they are good.
  7. Honestly, watching the games lately, he has looked pretty bad and unathletic on a lot of plays. Having said that, it's a tank year and I don't mind him being at 1B. He's our star and not ready to be a full-time DH (though I feel remember reading within the past year or two that he was opening up to the idea of DHing more?).
  8. Right, he only makes sense for contenders that are looking for innings out of the back end of the rotation and don't want to give them to young arms/want to limit innings. And then when the season ends, the team likely leaves him off the playoff roster. I'd definitely dangle him out, eating most of the contract and hope you find maybe some sort LatAm signing you like (obviously, not as one that was highly touted, in the sense he signed a big bonus, as Fernando Tatis).
  9. Might want to update your signature then haha
  10. Wonder if he tried signing with a club at that age as an amateur free agent before coming over.
  11. Stick him in LF, the "hide the glove" position.
  12. Too much talent is never a problem. Plus, some could be used as trade chips.
  13. Well I guess you would just move him to 3B in a few years when Bryant left.
  14. And how many of those guys will be around when/if Beer is ready? Probably 0. Edit: maybe 2
  15. My bad. Hard to tell since people seem to be figuring out who will move already.
  16. He's not displacing anyone yet. When the time comes, Sox will find a spot. Other teams do it with their glut of talent.
