  1. There is always, of course, a possibility that a team would take him on a 3-year deal. I personally would probably still gamble on him at that as he can get some rest in the DH spot often as well.
  2. Earlier in the year he was projected to get around 4/5 years. He could take a one year deal to play for a 2-4 year deal next off-season.
  3. Donaldson on a 1-year deal for him to rebuild value isn't crazy. Maybe like a 1-year $20m deal.
  4. I think giving opt-outs after years 4 and 5 would be a good motivator to potentially open up the window in 2019. Yes, they would have to add a couple more pieces to the lineup (example: if signing Harper, sign Donaldson or Lowrie to play 3B; if Machado, add an OF) and a SP or two, but you can hope that the youngsters make strides and hope they can catch lightning in a bottle. They also wouldn't lose any prospects going this route so it wouldn't be that bad of a plan. It wouldn't be completely abandoning the rebuilding idea.
  5. If theres a prospect for prospect type deal, it won't be a 3 for 1 where they get the better prospect. That just doesn't happen in the league.
  6. Only 1 year left of Didi. Plus Andujar can move across the diamond or DH mostly.
  7. I guess it depends on who Avi would have replaced in the lineup when they got him. Would he have played over Marwin Gonzalez since he wasn't good last year as he was in 2017?
  8. It also never happens.
  9. Why? People here want to non-tender Avi. Even if Martes ends up being a reliever, I'd still gladly take him.
  10. Who knows. Maybe it still can depending on what the Astros do this off season.
  11. Agreed.
  12. I'd still gladly do it even with the tj surgery.
  13. I'm sure they would still be concerned about his knee.
  14. Yeah probably. Which would have been fine with me.
  15. I like this idea.
  16. Suarez will definitely cost a lot.
  17. Why would Boras care? If the Sox offered Harper and he accepted an extra $30m over the next best offer, I don't think he would.
  18. I'd rather they signed these types of players as opposed to trading for them.
  19. It's more control than Machado had when the Sox tried trading for him.
  20. I figured they would hold onto him (and they still could) but if they do add another corner OF or DH with Palka moving to the OF, I would expect him gone. If they don't add another corner OF bat or DH, then he stays and the Sox hope he has a good enough first half to move him.
  21. I personally don't see it dragging out that long. This isn't a weak class where there are only second (even third) tier type guys at the top. They are clearly the best. Not saying they will sign this month, but I think anytime between the Winter Meetings and Christmas they will sign.
