Why do people just automatically assume a meeting with Harper = he's signing? They haven't had a face to face meeting with him yet correct? I would be shocked if he signs tomorrow.

Well, I would think the assumption would be Turner goes to OF if they signed Machado so it's relevant if you thought of it as a hypothetical scenario. But yeah, Nats are not signing Machado.

I wonder if the front office has dates in mind for bumping the offer. For example: "once it hits this date, we tell him we'll tack on another year if he signs today" type of thing. Obviously they have an idea of how high they are willing to go and I doubt they are anywhere near that yet.
