QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 12:35 PM) Delminico benched but Engel starting... Renteria doesnt do a very good job making decisions He should definitely be in against the righty. I'd have no issue with Garcia in for Engel. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 12:26 PM) I never thought I’d see the day Sanchez & Leury were our 5th & 6th hitters. I was going to say...the lineup looks sad. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 10:39 AM) He can play every position in the infield and him on the roster keeps L. Garcia as the back up OF. If Cordell replaced him then Garcia would be your back up 2B/SS Plus Sanchez can back up those positions.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:42 AM) No, Pierce singled off of Bummer. There were two runners that Bummer inherited, but one was thrown out at home, so when he scored it should have been on Bummer. Oh yeah.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:34 AM) Yes, it wasn't Engel being charged with an error, which should happen. Pierce singled and scored vs. Bummer and somehow the scorer charged Fulmer. It appears they need a new scorer in Toronto. Fulmer put the guy who scored on base....or am I missing something?

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:52 AM) The end of rosters are bad enough now. Imagine how bad the 30th players would be. It would really decrease the quality of play. I'd really like expanded rosters since I miss the days where benches were 5 deep and there was more bench usage (mostly pinch-running). It would allow teams to keep more platoon type bench bats (Steven Pearces of the world) and play the matchups late in the game. Unfortunately, I just know teams would go over 10 deep in the bullpen if teams were expanded that much (maybe set a limit of how many can be in the pen?).

The Jason Benetti and Sox Announcing Thread
Bob Sacamano replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 12:06 PM) I just think- less is more. He talks too much...they talk too much. Call the game, make some good baseball points, make jokes when they?€™re actually funny, and stay out of my way of actually just watching and enjoying the game. He?€™s a mosquito buzzing around my ear for 3 hours. Don't think an announcer can really do this. Plus, if announcers bother you that badly, there's thing on remotes that allows you to turn down the volume. -
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:58 AM) Becomes unfair. I think they seriously need to make retractable roofs mandatory. If they have to retrofit stadiums, so be it. Basically all stadiums outside of FL and SoCal, need one. This is also for purely selfish reasons, as it would force the Cubs to move from Wrigley and they lose that advantage over the Sox. I'd hate for the Sawx to lose Fenway, but so be it. They can keep Fenway/Wrigley as a historical monument and maybe play a series there in mid-summer. It's amazing a lot of the newer stadiums don't have retractable roofs. Yankee stadium cost a billion dollars and doesn't have one. Even more amazing is that Minnesota doesn't have one due to location. I know there's complaints that it takes a while to open and close the roofs, but just keep them closed the first month of the season unless you somehow get beautiful weather for an afternoon game on a weekend.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:11 AM) I've always wanted to run the analysis of suspended games due to weather by week in april. I heavily believe the first week would be the worst, and it having significant dips each week. Meaning if sox always had home opener in second week of april it would be a big enough improvement to enact that policy. I don't know. I think this week is worse than last week.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 12:23 PM) Apparently Boston knew Donaldson hated the whistle, so he blew it as Donaldson was coming to the plate. Donaldson is an ass, but his response is justified. Yeah this also part of it too.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 12:08 PM) I don't know if it's Theo's man crush or what, but for an organization that prides itself on following splits, playing to the averages, and putting their players in the best position to succeed, they sure seem to ignore all of those things when it comes to Schwarber. Yeah I thought it was weird when Happ sat against the lefty. Zobrist for Heyward makes sense but at least Happ is a switch-hitter and better defensively than Schwarber. I figured it would be more of a Schwarber/Almora platoon with Happ in LF against lefties.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 11:56 AM) You know, I heard a loud whistle for 2-3 seconds after Yolmer's nice play late in the game, and I just figured it was a moronic fan blowing a whistle. Evidently it's Boston, something I never knew. I thought I heard a whistle a few times during the game and thought the same thing.

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 08:22 PM) With the bat that Beer has he will go top 10.. I wouldn't even hate it if the Sox reached and took him at 4. He's that good of a hitter. He won't last past 10 despite his defensive... shortcomings? QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 08:26 PM) honestly wouldn't complain either I have a theory that if his name wasn't "Beer" we wouldn't even be talking about taking him that early.

FS: Major changes to minor league rules in 2018
Bob Sacamano replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:38 AM) 6 mound visits has struck me as artificially low. I was on Manfred's side when he framed his goal as to reduce the amount of downtime during a game. But the crusade to shorten up extra inning games especially with something so illogical (baserunner just appearing on 2nd) has really annoyed me. I wonder how that would be scored. I figure it would have to be an unearned run since it isn't the pitcher's fault he is on base in the first place. -
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:22 AM) He's a better than AAAA hitter, but his fielding is just...yikes. He'd be good in the AL, for sure. He can rake. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 08:36 AM) Yeah that career OPS of .809 and BA of .224 is really raking. Guy should only play against righties.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 01:32 PM) The White Sox had big, cheap assets to sell. The rebuild would take forever if they were just depending on the draft, and June 2 signings. Fulmer, Collins, Burger, those were the guys losing got you. If not for Sale, Eaton and Q, the Sox rebuild might take 10 years. It's really a rebuild like no other, maybe the Marlins currently, but they got nowhere near the return for Stanton because he wasn't cheap. This x1000000

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 03:11 PM) Players of the Week(end) AL- Justin Smoak NL- Adam Eaton Good for Eaton. It's a shame he missed most of last season.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:29 PM) Real petty stuff here from the Twins. They shifted while up 7 runs late in a game, with Berrios throwing a one hitter. Baltimore's hitter bunted for a base hit against the shift. Twins are pissed. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/twins-...s-1508523114409 The "unwritten rules of baseball" or so f***ing stupid. There I said it.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:06 AM) Well, I'm not getting my wish. Lopez, Gonzalez, Fulmer in Toronto. Shields is getting the home opener. Sorry guys. What are the chances they skip Fulmer?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 07:55 AM) Schwarber went 0/4 with 3 LOB and 3k, Heyward replaced him in the lineup and went 0/3 with 3 LOB and 2k(and the 3 LOB was a bases loaded DP). Yikes Surprised Schwarber started against a lefty. I think soon, Happ will move to left against lefties with Schwarber on bench.
