  1. There's like 3 other minor leaguers involved. So nope, this isn't even that kind.
  2. Oh I was just joking since the Astros picked up a player associated with domestic abuse.
  3. Getting a guy like Machado is adding for the core going forward (hopefully for at least 5 seasons). Adding guys like Cruz, another position player, and a couple pitchers to go along with that big signing opens up our window sooner.
  4. Sources say that the Astros are still in the mix.
  5. Easy. Machado plays SS for a few months and then when Didi is back, there is a rotation in the DH spot. Also, Andujar is a butcher at 3B and can pick up a 1B glove as well. Let's just hope the Yankees buy Corbin and Happ and don't free up much payroll. Edit: off the top of my head, I can't think of who else the Yankees are really spending a lot on besides Stanton. I know CC is back at $8m and they re-structured Gardner's contract so he would be making less at $7.5m. Edit 2: oh yeah....Ellsbury. I bet Cashman will be working hard to move that some of that contract this off-season.
  6. Ha, any time I say anything pessimistic or predict things to go poorly, in the back of my mind I think "man would I love to be proven wrong."
  7. Well maybe not intentionally, but if they do sign guys to 1-2 year deals and the team is doing poorly mid-season, we suddenly have guys we can sell off. I kind of expect 2019 to be the last year they make those kind of moves.
  8. That would be amazing if that was announced this winter, ha.
  9. Yeah there is a lot to like. I'd rather spend on pitching next year than this year when there are more options.
  10. Yeah. I just feel like it's either Texas or retirement for him. Or to a team he might be able to win a ring with.
  11. Personally, I never expected them to be interested, unless they moved Stanton. Though I guess they could rotate Judge, Stanton and Harper between LF, RF, and DH.
  12. Who from that group do you like? Kluber's option would likely get picked up by the Indians (or any team he could be traded to if the Indians get serious about that and do it).
  13. In this year's free agency? Edit: I'm guessing you are referring to Adrian Beltre?
  14. it would have been awesome if the Sox and Eloy could have agreed to that rumored extension last year that would have brought him up last year plus likely the 7 years of control.
  15. Yeah I'm not sure how serious their interest is in Corbin (and maybe Keuchel?), but I think I would lean more towards upside type of guys like Pomeranz, Gio (who's just a year removed from finishing in the top CY Young votes) who you might be able to flip and help fill the rotation for a season, and even Kikuchi (spelling?). Regardless on if they sign Machado or not, I'd still handle the pitching this way as I would prefer not to sign Corbin and Keuchel.
  16. This is probably what I would aim for. If Harper instead of Machado, then Donaldson instead of Cruz. In both scenarios, you'd have to think Avi is gone as Palka receives his most playing time in RF or DH depending on the scenario.
  17. Days into the season. I was just saying in that span, that's how many games we would be Eloyless.
  18. I mean, I would probably acknowledge that it sucked not having him early so that we could have had a few more wins or that it sucks that we didn't win more while he was here. But it's still the right call.
  19. Looking at it now, if Eloy comes up on April 15th, he will be missing 14 regular season games. You have to figure about 2-3 will be PPD and made up during the summer at some point. They play 3 in KC, 2 in Cleveland, 6 at home against Seattle and Tampa (kinda wish they were on the road for these series this early in the year), and then 3 in New York.
  20. I'm ok with it in this scenario since they would be playing a lot better than we would expect giving us something exciting to watch for the first time since 2012.
  21. I'm sure they would have loved to have manipulated the service time of Kopech, but he needed to get innings somewhere.
  22. We'll see about the Angels. A's are a team where you never know what you'll get. They were great this year but who knows how they will do next year. Edit: they seem like the type of team that would add Nelson Cruz on like a 2-year deal.
  23. Gray should have a lot of suitors. Dude was a fantasy mystery last year. Good k numbers but I never added him because I was always scared of his era. He'll bounce back with any team.
  24. Problem is, there really are no "super teams" interested in on either guy. You keep reading that teams like the Giants, Phillies and Cardinals have interest.
