  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 08:55 AM) FWIW, if you take out opening day, Matt Davidson is 4-26, 1 HR, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 8 BB, 12K, .308 slg, .371 opb, .679 OPS. It's definitely too early to judge hitting this early in the season, but the walks are encouraging.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 08:19 AM) Now that we're 10 games deep into this lovely season, I'd thought it would be fun to see some takes on players based on this incredibly small sample size. I'll obviously go first with a couple. 1) Carson Fulmer is NOT a starter but should be a very good reliever 2) Matt Davidson has actually figured s*** out & will be a solid DH option 3) Reynaldo Lopez is going to pitch like a legit #3 starter this season 4) We're seeing exactly why we are more likely to be under .500 this season than over .500 (not sure why some people on here expected the latter coming in).
  3. Don't have time to read it myself right now, but can anyone give a few bullet points on how the ballpark could have been?
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 11:36 AM) Why the hell is Saladino in the lineup again? Looks like since there is a lefty and to give Yolmer a day off. I guess if you're going to play your backup and rest your starter, its better to do it when the platoon advantage makes sense (even if Saladino does suck).
  5. 1. Yoan Moncada (S) 2B 2. Avisail Garcia ® RF 3. Jose Abreu ® 1B 4. Matt Davidson ® DH 5. Welington Castillo ® C 6. Nicky Delmonico (L) LF 7. Tim Anderson ® SS 8. Tyler Saladino ® 3B 9. Adam Engel ® CF
  6. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 09:52 AM) Buster Posey? Madison Bumgarner? Tim Lincecum won 2 Cy Youngs as well. Yeah prime Lincecum was definitely a star.
  7. QUOTE (FloydBannister1983 @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 09:16 AM) He needs to win a Cy Young or come relatively close. He hasn't come relatively close. He also can't have too many more 17 game seasons. He's also on the disabled list to start this season. Could be minor setbacks but guys like this do breakdown early. Doesn't help that he has pitched in the same league as one of the best pitchers that any of us will ever see in our lives.
  8. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 04:08 PM) Anyone have any updates on Eloy/Hansen? I can't find any threads on them here or in future Sox Eloy: he's almost ready for game action. Hansen: idk.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:46 PM) I mean come on, this was supposed to be a night game. It's not opening game which people plan formonths ahead of time. School is also not out. What would YOU do if you had tickets to tonights game last friday, it got moved to daytime because it looked like it would be freezing and saw snow was on the way? Would you call work and say "Hey, I need a day off on short notice, game I don't want to miss". Yeah so many factors going against the game including the opponent being the Rays.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:45 PM) Miguel Gonzalez is so average. I mean, he's really just there to fill a spot and eat innings.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:43 PM) I see... so tickets that were bought today even (after the change was announced) can still be exchanged? Is there any proof on the ticket for when you bought it on Stubhub (can't remember off the top of my head)? I don't think they would even pay attention.
  12. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:34 PM) What do you think runs through the players' heads when they see there is like absolutely zero fan support at the park On a day like today? "I don't blame them."
  13. QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:12 PM) mlb.tv says delay, is there a scheduled time yet or are they looking to cancel? It was moved to 1:30.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 12:46 PM) I did the same thing. Told my Tigers fan co-worker about it and now he's grabbing tickets for behind the visitor's dugout to exchange for when the Tigers come back to town.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 12:39 PM) Back in the late 90s, Tampa tried to bomb their way to wins. They signed Jose Canseco. There was some rainout or cold out. It might have been one of those days they used to cancel because the Bulls were playing a playoff game At any rate, they played a twi night DH to make up. We arrived the first or second batter, and there was a flyball to CF. McKay Christensen was playing CF for the Sox. We could clearly hear him calling for it 2 feet from the door of the lower concourse. There couldn't have been 100 people in the stands. Today might rival that crowd. Prefer the smaller crowds. Thursday was hell waiting for beer, food, and bathrooms.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 12:12 PM) Yes. They said any unused tickets for today can be exchanged for any game except the Cubs when they moved up the time. Did not know that. Not big on the 300 level but it would be nice stealing some dugout tix for really cheap.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 11:58 AM) Anyone looking for a bargain, buy some $6 club level seats on stubhub. Even with the fees it's a steal, as any unused tickets for today's game can be exchanged for any other game except the Cubs. So if you don't go to the game and it isn't PPD, you can trade your ticket in?
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 11:57 AM) The White Sox should get a cold weather compensation draft pick. It would be as arbitrary and unfair as the competitive balance picks, which is exactly why they should exist. A decent amount of teams would get those: Sox, Cubs, Twins, Tigers, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Pirates, Indians, Reds, Rockies, Orioles, Nats.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 11:51 AM) it seems like the last few years have been brutal for early season Sox schedule problems. The riots in Baltimore, the rain, the snow...next year locusts? And yet, teams like the Giants/Dodgers and Angels/Athletics have already played each other twice. Milwaukee opening up in San Diego also seems stupid.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 09:30 AM) I'd take the under. The Cubs home opener at the same time, I have no idea who would actually look forward to attending the Sox game today. I love going. I have zero interest. If they play 2 on Wednesday, I will go for sure. My friend had an extra ticket to the Cubs Brewers game on Saturday so I decided to go with him know there wouldn't be a delay, postponement, or watching in 20 degree weather. F***ing awesome watching a game comfortably when its like 20 degrees out. The final result sucked, however.
  21. Might as well PPD it now and play 2 on Wednesday.
  22. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 11:39 AM) I'll pick one thing to respond to, since your post is all over the place: Yolmer's performance yesterday was one of the best all around games a Sox 3B has had in my lifetime. That was a prime Joe Crede esque effort on both sides. Haha click in a thread thinking it's only going to be about the Sox infield and somehow there's a rant about Soria mixed in there. Shame on me for assuming that when entering a Caulfield thread haha
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 10:46 PM) Trump and Hawk are pretty similar to be honest Wow. This is probably the most accurate statement on this board.
  24. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 10:19 AM) I was at the 1991 Opening Day. It was bad but the game was a blowout. The White Sox were never in the game. Yesterdays game should have been won by the White Sox. Dude losing 16-0 at the opening of a new ballpark when you're expected to contend is way worse than losing in extra innings year 2 of a rebuild by far lol
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 10:12 AM) This is hysterical. This team isn't supposed to contend, how could it possibly be a bigger trainwreck than the 1991 home opener? Opening a new park. Optimism about winning a division, lose 16-0. I get what you're saying but it's possible he didn't attend that one.
