  1. It also depends on his age and service time (not sure on either) if he is considered an amateur signing or not. Edit: did the research. You have to be at least 25 and have at least 6 years of experience to be exempt from the rules. He is 25 with only 5 years.
  2. I've started living by the rule: post-college is fair game once you hit a certain age.
  3. That has everything to do with this thread haha
  4. That's it's not really a big deal. Having ADD isn't really like a sickness or anything. This is pretty much a non-issue/story.
  5. Eh. People can talk politics on another site if they want.
  6. "Plays with a chip on his shoulder"? That's how you describea guy who says he doesn't want to hustle?
  7. Let's start looking for interesting pieces we can take off their hands.
  8. Wasn't it a caller who asked or suggested it first?
  9. I'm aware. I was just referring to the Mesa brothers since this thread is about the Mesas.
  10. It just occurred to me in another thread that in this current signing period, Sox can only spend up to $300k on a player so they won't be in the sweepstakes for either brother.
  11. In the current signing period, we can't spend over $300k on one player.
  12. I think he gets extended and is the DH going forward. Something like a 4 year deal where the first year would cover his 2019 salary. They should try Palka at 1B.
  13. Yeah if they're going to sign someone for the money he is going to get, you better be playing at 110%, 100% of the time.
  14. I'm going to predict 3 years/ $30-39m, so $10-13m annually.
  15. They're not going to non-tender Abreu and they won't trade him so it's a moot argument really.
  16. Saw a lot of Dodgers fan on Facebook hoping they wouldn't re-sign him. They mentioned his attitude and way he plays the game. He honestly doesn't seen like the kind of guy who would sign here unless we outbid the next offer from a competitor by a solid $20mill at least. Also seems like the kind of player who would sign a massive contract and coast. Not sure hes the type of guy you give the big contract to.
  17. I'm thinking both go to the Marlins or one goes to the O's.
  18. Last year, it was $197m. Next year, it jumps up to $206m, which is the biggest jump per season so far. This season was a great year for teams to reset their penalties.
  19. Yep. Both really with Kershaw potentially leaving (I don't think he will).
  20. I would be interested in Gray. Younger and more upside than Shields. Potential flip candidate.
  21. Is he really? I never knew that.
  22. Thought Gio should have at least gone another inning or two. But I guess when you're rotation is like that and you have a lot of off days in the playoffs, you can sort of go with that Rays strategy of having an "opener" for an inning or two. Especially when your pen is that good.
  23. You wouldn't notice since you've been gone, but some of have wondered where you went. We have definitely noticed you were gone.
  24. Agreed. Edit: totally seems like a typical Pirates add that they receive great results on.
