  1. I understand what they are trying to do IF they do have interest, even though I don't really agree with it.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 11:35 AM) 1. Sanchez, 3B 2. Moncada, 2B 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Dickerson, DH 5. A. Garcia, RF 6. Delmonico, LF 7. Castillo, C 8. Anderson, SS 9. L. Garcia, CF IF: Saladino OF: Engel BC: Narvaez #1: Shields #2: Giolito #3: Lopez #4: Gonzalez #5: Fulmer CL: Jones SU: Soria SU: Minaya MR: Avilan MR: Infante MR: Cedeno MR: Rondon LR: Santiago Ha. I see you did what I did. Quoted Chicago White Sox's post and made a few tweaks. Lot of guys who could potentially end up in the pen so I didn't even bother thinking about the pen on my own.
  3. QUOTE (FT35 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 09:45 AM) Hosmer was a 4+ WAR player with KC last year. Hunter Dozier is next 1B up on the depth chart. You have to think that his value at this point in his career isn't that much over replacement value. You also have to think that at least 1 of Hosmer's wins was against us!! So -4 Wins for KC and +1 for us...that's a 5 win impact on our year. Cool. I would actually expect KC to sign Morrison (from the area) now.
  4. I don't think info anything was withheld from the White Sox about James Shields. I think he just got hurt after. Just bad luck. Otherwise, why weren't we involved in the whole Red Sox and Marlins report and being offered to reverse the trade? Edit: either way, it's in the past now. Let's not dwell on it and talk about the guys still here.
  5. 1. L. Garcia, CF (also sees time in the infield) 2. Moncada, 2B 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Delmonico LF 5. A. Garcia, RF 6. Castillo C 7. Anderson SS 8. Davidson DH (also sees time at 1B and 3B) 9. 6. Jarrod Dyson signs with the Diamondbacks. Had him pegged for the Giants.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 05:11 PM) I have spent entirely too much time trying to convince people here and elsewhere that what you wrote is correct. The club takes on 100% of the downside risk and gets none of the upside. If it's what it takes to get a guy to sign on the dotted line -- then sure, include it -- but it's a very big concession on the club's side and should be factored into the AAV and years on the deal. We understand the risk for a team but sometimes you need to offer the opt-outs to entice the player. Especially if there are similar offers on the table.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 05:05 PM) Maybe I'm wrong but the opt outs seem to be 100% In the players favor. If a player is playing well enough to.opt out, you would rather he stay.on the original contract. And if he is not playing well enough, then you are stuck with him. Depending on the age of the player, it kinda works out for the team if a player opts out. Depending on how many years they are leaving behind.
  9. Lincecum has an MLB offer. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/tim-...fer-giants.html Edit: not sure why Giants are part of the link. Article doesn't say they offered it.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 10:14 AM) People that want to move Abreu absolutely amaze me I'd like Garcia to stay if he proves himself this year, but understand shopping him while his value is high Did I say I want to move Abreu? It all depends on what is offered. Also Hahn hinted that they could be brought back as free agents (Abreu and Garcia).
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 09:34 AM) Don't the Sox have enough on the farm? Obviously have to maintain it (Draft, shopping fliers like Soaria, Bruce Rondon, etc.) but the fire sale is over No it isn't. They should still be listening on guys like Abreu, Garcia, Jones, any minor league signing pitching well, and Castillo.
  12. Last spring the job wasn't his so he felt like he had to compete and have a great spring. This year, he knows the team knows he's ready to go out there everyday. That's all this is. I don't think it comes off as cocky or a bad attitude.
  13. I wouldn't be shocked if he did end up a Yankee. It just means they wouldn't be able to go long-term with Judge post-arbitration years most likely. We say the same about Harper going to the Cubs only with Bryant instead of Judge.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 01:26 PM) Why though? We already have Castillo and Narvaez ? The Kevan Smith response was the answer to a question about doing this a previous season. Did you bother to read the comment he quoted at all?
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 08:14 AM) Why would anyone sign a non-elite 1B to an 8 year deal in this day and age? I get that Hosmer provides some nice intangibles, but that doesn’t rationalize this type of investment. The Padres will eventually regret this IMO. Also, wish we would have extended Abreu when good 1B/DH we’re only getting three to four year deals. If Jose reaches free agency, he’s going to get an offer that makes us uncomfortable. At his age at free agency? Idk about that.
  16. The deal isn't as bad as I initially assumed he'd sign for. He's making $13 mill in each of the last 3 years. I mean still a bad deal, but not crippling at the end. Luxury tax hit of $18 mill a year.
  17. If I'm the Red Sox, I'm forgetting about JDM and signing Dickerson for cheap (if he doesn't get traded in the next 10 days).
  18. I bet Dickerson gets traded for something in the next 10 days. Edit: should've attempted to add him in a package with Odorizzi. Edit 2: weird they even dfa'd him to make room since they made room for Cron by dealing Odorizzi lol
  19. Well I know who's delivery to use for him in MLB The Show lol
  20. I'm going to assume s*** has hit the fan if we aren't getting daily updates lol
  21. Rangers sign Edinson Volquez to 2-year minor league deal.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 12:07 PM) I'm pretty sure Tatis never played a game in the White Sox organization, so he basically was a $825k bonus guy traded for a guy they wanted to be a 5th starter. It may blow up in their face, in fact, Shields already has, but if you dig deep, it isn't as bad initially as one would think. Yeah and the possibility exists that Tatis flops.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 10:58 AM) Hey did you miss one or is it not official yet. Nunez linked with Red Sox. Not official yet but seems likely.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 05:11 PM) Thing is, some of us don't forgive the Sox front office for mistakes as easily as others. My anger stems from the fact fans pay so much money to go to a game they have the right to b****. Many of you don't care about that. Why should they be forgiven if Tatis turns into a phenom? You can still be a fan and rip the front office at times. This is very ironic coming from you. The one who hates prospects hates a move where they were "going for it."
