Cubs to go own way...
I don't think it was implied that they would try to land both. Just that they try for both in hopes of landing one at any cost. Example: stay in talks with each. If Harper signs somewhere else first, go harder after Machado and vice versa.

2019 OD Roster Thread with a focus on Eloy
I have Machado pegged for the Yankees to play 3B and the Yanks dealing Andujar in a package for pitching. Long-term, no they wouldn't be able to keep all of Judge, Stanton, Machado but for controllable years of Judge I don't think they would be worried. Yes, Judge will get expensive but just like the Dodgers, they are resetting their luxury tax penalties this season so they likely plan on going over for at least a few years again.

8/28 GT - Big Game James vs. Lance Lynn
I would expect them on the team next year. Now 2020 I doubt. Unless they sign some high leverage guys this offseason (not sure I see them doing that yet).

8/28 GT - Big Game James vs. Lance Lynn
Stone sounded annoyed.

Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
Without the injury, it probably would have happened this year. Regarding the borderline 40-man guys, the Sox probably try to move some for PTBNL or cash considerations.

Trade Proposals
I've noticed as well. Hope all is good with him. I just hope he just listened and took a break from the team like we all suggested that he should.

Kopech the latest MLB player with questionable Twitter history
I wasn't automatically labeling this situation as that. Just that the phrase is true today.

Kopech the latest MLB player with questionable Twitter history
Got that right.

Kopech the latest MLB player with questionable Twitter history
They may have been dug up long ago. People could have been sitting on these for a while until he got to the MLB.

2018 White Sox catch-all thread
I'm going that Saturday so I'm hoping a game in between gets rained out.
-
2018 Cubs catch-all thread
I was originally going to suggest him but yeah it's not relevant at all.

Yeah at the very least, some of the fringe guys get moved for "PTBNL or cash considerations."

8/22 White Sox vs Twins 1:10
? He didn't modify anything. He said: "how many games has he gone 0fer in that span?" Having no hits and a walk or 2 is still an "0fer." He's talking about hitless games and meant that originally. Edit: after reading the below response, I have no idea what he's trying to say and it's confusing me haha

8/22 White Sox vs Twins 1:10
Still pretty cheap. And a rebuilding team with a low payroll could certainly afford him. His salary won't increase a ton.

8/22 White Sox vs Twins 1:10
A rebuilding team that could give him at bats, yeah.
-
Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
Yeah they could have held onto him and tried to move him at the Winter Meetings in the days prior to the Rule 5 Draft.
-
8/22 White Sox vs Twins 1:10
I'd probably go: Anderson SS Narvaez C Garcia RF Palka DH Davidson 1B Delmonico LF Moncada 2B (just get pressure off of him at the top) Sanchez 3B Engel CF

Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
ESPN has to be trolling at this point.

Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
LOL I didn't even think of that.

Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
I'm kinda shocked he made it out of the AL. None of those 6-7 teams can use a lefty? Edit: even more teams considering he has an extra year of control.

Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
Hey hey now. There was a solid hour rain delay before people dipped at the top of the third.

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again
Yeah we'll probably see Tilson, a 3rd catcher (Welington), and then relievers added would be my guess. And then Abreu and Leury (maybe) off the DL at some point.
-
2018 Cubs catch-all thread
And still the best team in the NL....fuck.
-
Abreu has surgery, out at least 2 weeks
It sucks but more Davidson in the lineup helps the tank.

That one hit in the second inning from Bobby Wilson was embarassing. Dude is hitting .173 with 2 homers and Delmonico is just a couple steps away from the warning track. Noticed the same for Mauer as well (a lefty with 5 only 5 bombs, though hes good at going the other way).
