We're 1 season off from being one of those terrible teams. We're less terrible now, sure, but as evidenced by their record this season, they aren't special in any way. The expectations they have now are by virtue of being the "tallest midget" for awhile in the AL Central/West. Anyone who expects more out of them is fooling themselves. If this were in actual good baseball team, they'd be 15-20 over .500 in this awful AL and running away with the division.

Look, I know this sucks. This game sucks. This team has sucked recently. But really barring a miracle, did anyone see this team making it to World Series? It's gonna suck if they get bounced from a playoff spot. There's a lot of emotion to making it this far in first place just to let it slip away. But really they were there by virtue of the AL Central sucking ass and somehow being a .500 team that had 1 good month but never really broke through to start working toward 15-20 games over .500. This team never had the horses, and I know shitting on Getz deadline is the popular thing to do but he was not fixing this s%*# at the deadline. This team is just SUPER young, no matter what they should be proud of their season. It was fun, they gave us a fun year of baseball and meaningful September baseball and that's something I didn't know I needed until I had it again because I basically stopped watching the Sox the past few years. There's still a solid chance we end up a Wild Card - but even then that may be the peak for this team because if they have to play a team like Houston, I don't see them winning whether it's in the Wild Card or the ALDS. For whatever reason, they just don't play well against them.

I believe it but most of the games I watch him pitch he's always walking dudes and overthrowing his fastball. Just gotta hope we get that version.

Our bullpen has been absolutely nails this season except for the last 2 series. You cant discount that. Their rotation is better, but our overall hitting has been better. They're not a better team. They will get knocked out in the ALDS or ALCS just like we would have.

Jansen is gettable but you gotta let him walk you.

They aren't better. They also aren't worse.

Good god nice of the Tigers to decide to be unstoppable hitters this game. Our pen is normally locked down and is getting slapped around lately. Uggghhh

Just reaping what they sowed by flailing vs teams like Houston, Pittsburgh and STL. Even going .500 against those guys you don't feel as bad right now.

Plus the tiebreaker. Clevelands the type of team to show up for a series like this and then continue being mega ass as they have most of the year.

They need to get runners on against Cade Smith. They've gotten to him before this year, and I think he tilts a bit if he lets guys on.

If Cleveland's a minor league team, so are the Sox.

Cleveland doesn't deserve it either, don't let this series fool you. This division (and the AL West) is mega ass. Just the rules are a team has to make it.

It worked for us earlier this year. Now they are bad against almost all pitching. The formula is fine if you can keep up, but with C/B Mont and Mune hitting the wall, its not working anymore because even bad pitching is exposing them.

Be shocked if he gets a fastball again unless its in his eyes in a 2 strike count.

He's going to be a problem for awhile. Too bad he's not anywhere near free agency... sigh

That's where I struggle, with the leading the league in runs. I almost can't even believe it. They were just that good earlier this year. But hey, the league adjusted and we did not and now we are paying for it. Ant, Chase and TP are guys who understand that power is not their only trick and approach at bats accordingly. It's no wonder they are doing well, they aren't just trying to pull everything for a HR.
