The way Venable was talking it sounds like Burke is going tomorrow. Basically, "we cant line it up for the WC so we're going with what we got", which I guess would be Burke Martin in game 2 and 3. Would be really, really lame if they got swept and Martin never pitched.

I don't know what the hell these guys are thinking. Burke on 4 days rest I guess? Or Kay in game 1? Of all the bullshit decisions we've seen this year, I think this one takes the cake. Royals are also a tougher team than the Rockies and we need to win to put pressure on Cleveland tonight... "bullpen day" should be tomorrow.

This is absolutely mandatory. It's division or bust for these guys and they need to play like it. 3 WC games in Houston have a big chance of not going well for us... Texas maybe not so much but still no home games anyway.

If we can be objective about this, Colson's struggles are greatly amplified by the fact that the Sox are going to the postseason. There's a lot on the line and him being in an extended sophomore slump is not helping at all and unfortunately turning many Sox fans against him, some even going so far to label him a bust. I say that if the Sox had the same record as last year, it would be a much more common mindset to give Colson next year to see if he is 2025/first-half 2026 Colson, or if 2nd half 2026 is the real Colson, or if the answer is somewhere in the middle.

Well said. Yes, this slump has been brutal but sophomore slumps are pretty common for young players. I want to see at least 1 more full season out of him before judging too much.

This is where I'm at, too. Last year and the first half of this year are tantalizing, and I am not so sure that this is Colson's final form. Plenty of great players K a lot, if he can be like a mini-Schwarber with + defense and avoid the prolonged slumps like the 2nd half of this season, that's a damn good ballplayer.

Offense has just gone in the shitter today. Awful innings. They didn't make a lot of these pitchers really have to work for it. Super disappointing.
