They spent 19 million (worth 52m today), have probably made many millions on ownership. The franchise is now worth 1.5 billion. Do the fans a fucking solid and cash out. Capital gains tax be damned, that's a hefty sum of money and hey... it means that the investors won. They bought this franchise for almost nothing comparitively, and now they have something worth over a billion. Buy low, sell high. Give us an owner who wants a shiny new toy hobby instead of this tired shit.

JR and his investment group should cash out at this point and sell the team to someone who wants to take on the Cubs as they appear to be reaching their weakest. You idiots made so much money off of this franchise. Cash the fuck out and enjoy being stupid rich FFS. Sell to a Moreno type who wants to play the game and win this city back.

Other team(s) you'll root for this season?
Southwest Sider replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hes got us by the balls. The team is just exciting enough that people will go. Moncada and Eloy etc are worth seeing. I want to punish the Sox but I also want to see those guys in person. ? -
I truly believe that Hahn and KW have a commitment to winning. Even JR, to some degree, is committed to winning.... but the means to get to winning must conform to his stipulations first and foremost. He wants to win, but he has a duty to the the rest of the morons who own part of this team. They got together in invested in this team because that's what it is.... an investment. You can't compromise that with 300M contracts. Contrast that with Moreno who is just some rich dude who probably doesn't give a rats ass if he loses a few million because the Angels are his cool toy hobby.

Or they're going to cough up one of our top 3 prospects for a pitcher now. Excellent job. At the very least, the Sox should have been "in" on these guys until the end. Yeah, probably not going to sign them. But offer the most money and see what happens!!! Fucking owners like Arte Moreno run baseball teams like they're a hobby, our owner sucks balls. He let the Sox lose this city to the Cubs and now they're a small market team in fucking Chicago of all places, and now they can't afford or won't spent the money on the whales. They're living in the reality that they built.
-
So Machado was worth 8/250 but Rendon wasn't worth 7/245 +? He's arguably a better baseball player. Man, at least make the Angels work for it. All these awesome free agents and we're gonna end up with Mazara and maybe David Price? Pretty disappointing, to be honest. Hot take, for sure since it's still so fresh, but man... not even one whale in 2 years? May as well move this team to Rockford so they can live in a city that could only support a small market team.

The amount of smoke around this makes me feel a deal is imminent. Hope I'm wrong. This isn't a "wow" name.

This was worth a thread?

This may be worth resurrecting since the Sox have been on the phone a lot with Boras lately, and it seems he's collected at least a couple 7 year offers already.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.

Sox are throwing everyone off the scent with all the trade talk if it is truly the case that they are a mystery team. UPDATE: Source is telling me that the White Sox are BOTH of the mystery teams. TFWIW. ? -

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...

UPDATE: I'm hearing the Sox are deep in talks on a Cease for Samardzija swap to bring him back to the South Side. -
Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
Southwest Sider replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they deal Cease, they better be fucking right. Unless it's a big name, that could have disaster written all over it. There's a pretty good chance that Cease will be an established, premier talent before too long. -
In before.... ahh I give up. Good deal for Stras, no wonder he signed so quickly.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Southwest Sider replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why are the White Sox offseasons becoming circus acts regularly now? My goodness. -
7/220+ In before the Sox offered 7/234.5

It sounds like there's an agreement in principal. This doesn't make much sense, though, don't teams usually let the news out that there's been an agreement in principal at that point instead of vehemently denying it? Maybe Wheeler really was 14 minutes away from signing with the Sox and they have PTSD lol. -
Ahhh Bruce. Accidentally called Steve Cishek Steve Madden, that was a nice laugh.

FWIW, Ozuna had his best offensive year of his career under our new hitting coach. -
Itd be cool if Rendon was actually gettable. If your due diligence brings you to that conclusion, you sign him and worry about positions later. That bat is special.
-
I mean, I guess I don't blame the Sox if they are out... but who else are you going to go after? He's riskier than Wheeler, but there's a good chance Bum has a lot left in the tank. Are they really gonna sign a Boras client? (Ryu) Who else is there that could legitimately be a difference maker? It would be awesome if the unexpected spurn by their target, Wheeler, made them say screw it and be determined to not be outbid for Cole. One thing I think I know is that a Boras client will always take the most money, even if he "prefers the west".

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
Southwest Sider replied to Soxnfins's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I mean, offer 5/120 and see what happens? WTF? This is the guy you zoned in on and your max was like 5/110 or something? For a starting pitcher in a sellers market? Blow off. Grandal is nice and all but how are you going to fulfill your shopping list for 2 SPs now when this is the guy you zoned in on? -

Tier D and F pitchers, or a trade.
