  1. Got it. I put some money on the Sox to win the World Series as the playoffs started....but I'm going to be pissed either way if the Sox lose today, mine as well make some money off of it in case that happens.....if the Sox win, I won't care at all that I lost that bet.
  2. Totally agree. I don't care if this was Game 7, do or die.....emotions just run higher in the evening. This day game stuff is crap.
  3. Just put $25 down on the Astros as an emotional hedge. Go Sox.
  4. If this pre-game show is really live, it looks like it's going to be a very late-arriving crowd.
  5. I think so too. I still really don't like Lynn against the Astros, it's just a really bad matchup for him....but if the Sox can steal this one today, I really think the Sox are in the drivers seat with a Gio/Kopech duo against whoever the Astros want to the throw at the Sox. Just win today.
  6. Barstool has perfected the “People who hate us the most will always be our best content sharers” strategy and it works like a charm. This is what Barstool wants. They capitalize on these moments better than anyone out there.
  7. The other side of the coin is baseball is fucking weird, and weird things happen in elimination games. The Astros figure their best bet at knocking the Sox out is McCullers, and why risk a Game 5 where things could go sideways. This way, even if the Sox beat McCullers tomorrow, Houston is thinking "We still have the advantage in Game 5 as we are going back to our place." I get it, but hopefully the Sox can take advantage tomorrow.
  8. Right, the Astros still have to be the heavy favorite in the series, and this doesn't change those odds that much. But it's the optimal situation for the Sox given the circumstances.....in my opinion.
  9. McCullers is their ace in the hole, he's been straight dominant over the Sox in 2021. I'm putting that guy in the best position to continue that trend by giving him one more day, and the opportunity to pitch in his home park, rather than a stadium that was considered absolutely electric by both local and national media last night. If the Sox can beat McCullers in GRF tomorrow (not an easy task) the entire scale is tipped in the Sox favor heading into Game 5. If the Sox win game 4 but you have McCullers waiting for you in Game 5 back in Houston....I still don't feel great about the series. I just don't agree with it.
  10. I'm shocked at that call, and would NOT be happy with it if I were an Astro's fan. McCullers has absolutely owned the Sox. Why are you making it harder for him by pitching him in Chicago, rather than Game 5 in your own ballpark? Wild move the Sox need to take advantage of.
  11. It was not implied that he actually said it, as I clearly used the word “if. The quote was also way over the top, on purpose, to try and prove the point we were having in the discussion. If anyone took the quote as “real”, then I guess I should have made it clear it was simply created as an example of the argument that was being bad, and not something he really said. I thought that was absolutely clear, but apparently not. It’s a fake quote.
  12. So…I guess you’re saying you would be OK with Kimbrel saying that. I would not. Agree to disagree.
  13. In most slang, a Chick is a female. Was trying to be accurate based on the username.
  14. For a relief pitcher making 16 million dollars, asking them to pitch the 8th instead of the 9th doesn’t sound very unreasonable to me, Ms. Don’t really know any other way to say it. I expect him to perform. I guess I’d put it to you this way: As a 16 million dollar man, if asked about his poor performance, Kimbrel said: “I just don’t like pitching the 8th inning. I can’t really get excited about it. My juices aren’t flowing them. And people can’t expect me to pitch in the 8th inning and be an impact player. I know other players are very successful in the 8th inning, but it just doesn’t interest me. I can’t help this team win unless I’m pitching the specific 1 inning I’m comfortable in. Not the 8th, not the 10th, but just in the 9th inning, when the game is on the line and when it’s only a save situation. Other than that, I really can’t be trusted.” - (*This is not a real Kimbrel quote) You’d be ok with that? You’re on Kimbrel’s side?
  15. You mean the same way Rick Hahn did? I, along with many others, thought it was a very good acquisition at the deadline. I was wrong. Rick was wrong. It didn’t work. I put most of that on the player failing to execute at his place of business. If Kimbrel was asked to roam CF and it wasn’t working, I’d cut him some more slack. But the relief pitcher is being asked to be a relief pitcher and he is doing it very badly, when before he was doing it quite well. The only difference is he is now doing his job about 20 Minutes earlier in the evening than he was asked to do it before. That’s an issue Craig needs to figure out.
  16. And I simply disagree with this and always will. It IS the players fault if he can’t “bring it” in the 8th. Again, the Sox aren’t asking Kimbrel to play 3B. They are asking him to pitch in a slightly different inning, often times in higher leverage situations than the 9th may be (3-4-5 in the 8th for example) Craig Kimbrel is a relief pitcher. That is his paid profession. Because of that, he should be expected to deliver outs when he comes out of the bullpen to pitch. If he can’t figure out the 8th from the 9th…that’s on the player who has the ball in his hands, not the executive in the skybox. If Rick asked him to player catcher…fine, that’s on the GM. That’s not what is happening here. Sorry.
  17. Amazing appearance from Liam, he should be a full go tomorrow!
  18. That’s always been the point. And of course, they haven’t got anywhere close to that. Which just blows. But as many of us discussed at the time, there are very scenarios where trading Madrigal and Heuer were going to cost you from winning a future World Series. Both are very replaceable. Getting a nails RP can be much harder to find, especially at the deadline. Kimbrel could have been that, but it’s been a massive flop. AND HAHN DESERVERS BLAME FOR THAT. Never said he didn’t. But I put more blame on the player because of all the reasons discussed previously. Sorry, this game was drunk, we needed something else to talk about ?
  19. Well said (even though if it was the *great* Kimbrel from the Cubs the Sox got, I don’t think the cost was that crazy)
  20. I feel like they are in on the joke at this point..
  21. And yet you’re STILL responding. So much for all that talk…Bozo
  22. Correct, which is why it was a gamble I didn’t like taking in this do or die game..but it worked. Just need 3 more now..
