  1. EVERYONE is picking up this Sox/Desmond thing. Would be shocked if we don't see a "White Sox & Desmond are close" report before tomorrow.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) True lol. If the Sox get Desmond, which outfielder would they go after in a trade? It sounds like the interest in Ethier was overstated and I don't know who else would be available on the trade market. Desmond Jennings make a lot of sense. Just hope it's not Guerrero.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) I have a feeling that something will never happen. Fixed. You gotta stop jinxing this, Mike.
  4. Sounds stupid but the fact that Hayes is confirming it & Merkin confirmed interest in both he & Fowler last night tells me that something is close.
  5. Chris Cotillo: "Source: Latos turned down offer of $3M + $6M incentives from another club before signing with White Sox."
  6. Dan Hayes "confirming" too: "Confirmed @JonHeyman report that #WhiteSox in talks w/ free agent SS Ian Desmond. Desmond avg 3.8 WAR from 12-15. http://bit.ly/1Qb4kJG"
  7. Herman reporting that the Sox are "Seriously considered making a big run at Ian Desmond". Said he thinks he's a great fit & talks like it will be more than 1 year.
  8. Heyman coming on the MLB Network to talk about FA & specifically Desmond & the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Ideally the Sox would sign Desmond and trade for Ethier. Dunno bout that latter part though, seems pretty unlikely. That's a lot of money... Signing Desmond & trading for Desmond Jennings or signing Jackson would make more sense, IMO.
  10. QUOTE (yoyozuna @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Any chance this is put out there to try and pressure another team Hahn might be in trade talks with? Highly doubt it. Merkin confirmed interest in both him & Fowler yesterday, plus raBBit has reported this a few times as well. I'm not a big fan but there's no denying that he improves this team. I can't see him going for a 1 year deal, so it may make sense to do 2-3 years & move him to the OF when Anderson is ready.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Simplest solution is they have no money left Personally, I don't buy that.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) 100 percent agree. Frankly, I'm just trying to figure out what the FO is doing... They've got this far, why not make the extra step to fill another hole with a high OBP guy w/ speed & see where that gets them? Frustrating.
  13. Three separate national writers playing hypotheticals with Fowler & the Orioles. Makes me think it's close.
  14. Jon Heyman: orioles signed jimenez and cruz late 2 years ago. and could repeat that with gallardo & fowler. @Ken_Rosenthal on it
  15. Per Buster Onley: The Orioles have interest in Dexter Fowler in the range of Howie Kendrick's deal with the Dodgers -- 2 years, $20 million. Sure seems like market is heating up a bit for Fowler. Been a few things mentioned on him in the past few days.
  16. Per Rosenthal: Sources: Fowler possible for #Orioles if they complete Gallardo deal. Would be willing to part with second pick, currently No. 29.
  17. Apparently my post wasn't very well written. My entire point was that if they could sign Fowler for that deal it would have been done.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) They aren't waiting. Fowler isn't wiling to accept a deal like that yet. That's why he's not signed. I guess that's my entire point.
  19. If they can get Fowler at 2/20, what the f*** are they waiting for?
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) And they are both better pitchers than Latos, IMO. I saw him pitch 2-3 times last year, and it was line drive city. Then he got DFA'd. No metric lines up with this statement, though.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Who else would you expect them to add starting wise? Either OF or Desmond at SS. Still some good names out there in the FA market.
  22. Is anyone else a little worried that the Sox are done making impact moves? I'm starting to think this may have been it in terms of starters.
  23. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Just to point out roster is now full. Curious if this actually means anything or not.
  24. Steamer had Johnson projected at .5 WAR for the year & Latos at 1.8 WAR. Make no mistake, this move should help the Sox.
