They weren’t late inning defensive changes. They were offensive changes that are now on defense. You can debate whether the pinch hitting was actually beneficial, but they were playing for runs there down by 2.

Been pondering for a little bit that targeting a proven, effective lefty reliever and move Newcomb to the rotation if needed.

This is an exciting possibility. We need to beef up the next wave of prospects. It’s a little barren looking right now.

Casual fans is the big thing here. I honestly believe certain circumstances prevent the Sox from having much of any casual fan ticket sales, as compared to maybe any team. If you can make moves to shrink those circumstances down, you’d be a dummy not to.

I’d be fine with Roch or Emerson. I love Vahn, but to me that profile just adds an extra layer of uncertainty. While it would be incredible to get a franchise player, it would be moreso crushing to get a dud. A good-great regular is a good-great outcome as well.

Anyone heard anything on Thorpe? I had heard maybe 2 weeks ago he was on the verge of starting his rehab, but I haven’t seen him yet.

If you had told me a year ago Colson Montgomery would be a 40 homer, elite defense guy at the big league level I would have been …speechless probably. He’s such a valuable player.
