If Robert is not part of the future, that would be extremely disappointing.

Here's how I see it. Barring catastrophe, Eloy and Robert are going to take 2 of the 3 outfield spots looking forward. That leaves Rutherford/Basabe/Gonzalez/Adolfo/Walker/etc to compete for the last one. I'm fine with packaging a couple of them together for a young pitcher.

I would much rather trade a couple of the outfield prospects than a guy like Dunning. Maybe that's just me.

He is literally the perfect fit for this team. The Sox haven't had a good third baseman in so long. And like I said, Manny playing third keeps Anderson at shortstop where he's elite defensively and Moncada at second where his skillset is best utilized. It would be amazing. I'm not sure what it would mean for Madrigal but they can worry about that later.

If nothing else, it seems like Manny would play 3B based on Garfien's tweets which is great. Keeps Anderson and Moncada where they should be.

Plot twist: Manny will be in Southpaw's costume and then reveal himself during the opening ceremonies to the delight of the crowd.

Justin Wilson's stint with the Cubs was forgettable but he has filthy stuff when he's right. I'd take a chance on him, especially if the Sox trade Fry or Bummer as part of a deal for Pederson.

So we're almost 11,000 posts into this thread and we don't know any more now than we did 2 months ago. Wonderful.

Add Manny, Pederson, and Eloy to what they already have and that is suddenly pretty good. The bullpen is much improved as well. The rotation is iffy, but adding a vet like Gonzalez would be nice. Rodon/Lopez/Gonzalez/Nova/Giolito isn't great, but it's not awful either. That group should at least give them a chance to compete in a poor division next year. Then Kopech and Cease can replace Gonzalez and Nova in 2020 and maybe a guy like Dunning will be ready by then too.

That's what l'm thinking as well. Add Manny, Gonzalez, and Pederson and this team might actually be somewhat decent.

I want Pederson if for no other reason than to not have to watch Adam Engel every night. He drives me crazy.

Just thinking out loud here since there's nothing else to talk about...I wonder if the Yankees would consider an Andujar for Rodon trade. There would probably be more pieces involved, but they're most likely going to get Arenado to play 3B anyway. Machado and Andujar at the corners for the Sox would be great.
