So much for anything exciting happening during SoxFest...

Like I said the other day, the only advantage San Diego has over Chicago is the weather. Illinois has a lower tax rate than California, the Sox play in a much easier division than the Padres, and the Sox have some of his best friends on this team. If the money is relatively equal, I see no reason why he would choose them over us.

Danny Valencia makes a lot of sense.

If they added those 4, I would be dancing in the streets. That team could potentially win the division.

I think Hawk is one of those things that people will miss more and more as time goes on. Right now some are happy he's gone because they're sick of him, but I think they'll begin to miss him at some point. Benetti is fine for what he is but Hawk is a whole different breed of announcer that we don't see anymore.

Heyman follows this guy FWIW.

I miss him dearly. I'll take last season's version of him over Benetti anyday.

I actually feel terrible for Alonso. His entire time with the Sox so far has just been answering questions about his brother in law.

I wouldn't take Hahn's comments too seriously. Of course he's going to downplay all of this. It's not like he's going to come out and say anything else.

Better farm system? Debatable. Better GM? Debatable. Willing to spend? Spending 219 million on Shields and Hosmer was a good idea? Alright...

There's a small part of me that wants to not give up on Fulmer just yet given that he was such a high pick, but it seems like the odds of becoming an MLB caliber pitcher with the Sox are pretty slim right now. A change of scenery would probably do him good. The Sox would be getting Joc out of the deal and they have a lot of other high quality relief pitcher prospects so I guess I can't be too upset about it.

Fulmer, Bummer, and some no-name minor leaguer for Joc would be a great deal for the Sox.

Why would the Sox trade Johnson? His minor league stats are ridiculously good.

If Robert is not part of the future, that would be extremely disappointing.

Here's how I see it. Barring catastrophe, Eloy and Robert are going to take 2 of the 3 outfield spots looking forward. That leaves Rutherford/Basabe/Gonzalez/Adolfo/Walker/etc to compete for the last one. I'm fine with packaging a couple of them together for a young pitcher.

I would much rather trade a couple of the outfield prospects than a guy like Dunning. Maybe that's just me.
