  1. With the Padres sputtering, I keep thinking about Mason Miller. I’d have to imagine that would cost Bonemer though if they are even willing to trade him at all.
  2. Then why did Joe Rock ever get called up? His walk rate is even worse than Peoples.
  3. I genuinely don’t understand the rationale behind this trade at all.
  4. Harper was a generational prospect. I don’t think Emerson is on that level.
  5. Nice that they didn’t have to use Hudson or Newcomb tonight, could come in handy tomorrow.
  6. The problem is that I don’t think there are any top end SP in this upcoming class besides Skubal. Freddy Peralta is probably the second best option after Skubal and I don’t consider him a true #1.
  7. The thought of 3 playoff runs with Webb is very intriguing. That said, he’s one of the very few guys I’d be willing to trade Bonemer for.
  8. I mean, it’s still Jerry Reinsdorf we’re talking about here. I’ll believe it when I see it.
  9. This entire game has felt like a slog. No energy after the first couple innings.
  10. I’m leaning more and more on the Wacha train after seeing him pitch against the Sox. Reasonable contract for next year and can eat innings. Not the highest upside option, but would still be useful.
  11. I agree. He needs to take a page out of Antonacci’s book. Grind at-bats, work counts, and get on base. That’s all he needs to do. There is enough slugging on this team where he doesn’t need to be a power hitter. That’s not his strength anyway.
  12. Quero isn’t far removed from being a top prospect and a key part of their plans. I think it’s too premature to throw him to the side and put him in a tier with a guy like Romo who has been DFAed multiple times already.
  13. I feel like trading Quero now would be selling him at his absolute lowest value. Gonzalez I could definitely see, though I don’t know if his current slump would create skepticism for other teams looking at him.
  14. That’s the thing though. I don’t know if it makes sense to trade prospects for rentals right now unless they are only giving up some scrub 24 year old in Low-A. Guys with team control would be ideal, but they would cost most in terms of prospects too.
  15. I don’t even really know what this means. How can they trade for any sort of difference makers without parting with notable prospects? If they are just trading Colby Shelton types or whatever, I can’t imagine them getting anyone that good.
  16. The visibility must be awful, very ugly swings for both sides.
  17. The Sox are positioned very nicely moving forward and I would argue the Tigers are the biggest threat in the division moving forward. I would prefer for them to not get more McGonigle’s or top pitching prospects. If sweeping this series makes them go for it, that’s a fine trade off for the Sox.
  18. Not that I wanted the Sox to lose this series, but it honestly is in their best interests in the long term if the Tigers convince themselves they can compete and don’t trade Skubal. Don’t want them to reload their system.
  19. I have no issue with the pinch hitting. I think Venable has actually been pretty good in that regard by putting his hitters in favorable situations. I think the bunting has also been scaled way back of late, which is a good thing. The way he manages a pitching staff is the biggest concern to me. It seems he has no feel. Case in point, leaving Fedde in the game to face Carpenter yesterday and letting Rock die out there today.
  20. Detmers has been incredibly good recently and has 2.5 years left at an affordable salary. It’s not going to be cheap to get him.
  21. It’s the other way around.
  22. That game has made me irrationally angry, but I guess it’s good that I’m upset about a one run loss against Skubal when Fedde was pitching.
  23. Skubal is going to pitch a complete game at this rate.
  24. I don’t think it makes sense to subtract from the MLB team to get a draft pick at this point unless they want to get out of Dominguez’s contract already.
